Bengals closing in on the #1 pick

Bradford disagrees. With one leg Luck is probably better than any guys coming out next year as well.

Worse than an injury would be a bad year where the team regresses for some reason (such as if Harbaugh leaves) and his stats reflect that... could drop him out of the #1 slot and cost him a lot of money.

I think the only way he stays is if Harbaugh stays though. Who knows. He seems like a smart kid. He might know the history of QBs that come out early and those that stay longer. We might be able to get him in two years when Jimmy's contract is almost up and we haven't won a game in 3 seasons with him at the helm. Can you imagine that?

After the last few weeks, I certainly can. =(

carolinagrowl Steve Reed

granted, it would require us winning a game, which I don't see. I don't care what anyone says.

while we play Arizona, they play the browns they have a better chance of winning next week then us, and they are going to want to beat the browns.

but it isn't much of a story when you put it that way, I still expect us to lose out.

what is with this idea that Clausen is going anywhere or that we are going to wait for him to get better or for his contract to expire before we get someone else, he's a 2nd round Qb and getting paid like it, which isn't much, I think it's a fair chance we draft Luck or Newton and keep Clausen for at least till his contract runs out.

What a sad thread this is.

There are two other QBs in the draft not named Luck and Locker who are pretty good.

I can't wait for the VA Tech vs. Stanford game on NY day. I think that QB for VA Tech is pretty damned good. We'll get to see Mr. Luck and Mr. Hargrove then. I'll reserve my space on that bandwagon until I see how The Cardinal does against the Hokies in a big time game.

Judging college players off individual game performances is sketchy at best, especially since Luck doesn't play in a non-BCS conference. Their offense isn't designed for big QB performances because they are very balanced. I'm afraid you might be disappointed but it will be in no way an indication of Luck's future success/failure. Unless he completely sh*ts the bed and throws 5 picks.

Yeah except that when you have scouts calling Luck the next great thing and that his talent is far beyond the other prospects the idea of 2nd best is not a fun one.
