Holiday drivers...

If you're in North Carolina it's not unusual.

I have driven coast to coast many times, have traveled through most of the country by car and have not driven in about 4 states and I can safely, unequivocally state that NC drivers are the worst I've ever encountered on the road.

I have driven in New England during snow storms, driven out of the south trying to get out of the way of a hurricane. I've driven on earthquake damaged roads in California and Oregon roads with 2" of water on them. I spent 2 winters driving in Maine.

But no one commands the trophy for being just all-around bad drivers in decent weather than North Carolinians. We're not even talking about special circumstances, just everyday driving. Things like using a turn signal, driving 55 in the fast lane and not moving over when there are 40 cars lined up behind. The "It's only been red for a couple seconds, I can get through this intersection." One of my favorites, the person who has no idea what a center turn lane is and just stops in the left lane with no warning and, of course, no signal to make a left turn and doesn't get into the center turn lane.

I've driven in Washington, DC, New York City and I got my drivers license in Southern California with Driver Ed classes on the freeways of Los Angeles- I know of what I speak and there is no doubt the worst I've ever been on the roads with- North Carolina.

I hate when they pull out in front of you and then proceed to go 10 MPH under the speed limit

I agree NC drivers are the worse in good weather, but they are also just as equaly as bad in Icy weather because they act even more like idiots...California drivers are the best, IMO

I agree! North Carolina is by far the state with the worst drivers. Maybe if Drivers Ed classes there worried less about you copying the questions and drawing the pictures, and more about educating drivers, there could be some improvement. Nahhhhhh

If you were to judge soley on how people drive on the Interstate, Washington state would give North Carolina a run for its money. Slow lane is the left lane. Middle lane is where everybody wants to drive. Right lane is the fast lane, except for exits. For some reason, they like to slow to 10 MPH before merging into the exit lane.

This is true... drivers ed is such a freaking joke. Pretty much any incompetent moron can get a license. The drivers test I took when I was 16 I could have passed when I was 8 and I've never had to take another actual driving test and that was 21 years ago. Crazy.

The tests, both written and driving, should be much more extensive and you should have to re-take them every 10 years or so.

This must be a trend because I've noticed it more and more here too... so many damn old people. My #1 peeve is driving slow in the left lane... god that pisses me off.

this. old people are so bad in Charlotte.

Not saying this is totally the cause, and I dont know if you guys are talking about NC as a whole or just Charlotte, but this is an implant city. Most everyone here has moved from somewhere else.
