Random bold letters!!!!1!!!

Ping:

A river, about 563 km (350 mi) long, of western Thailand. It is a major tributary of the Chao Phraya.

A sharp, high-pitched sound, as that made by a bullet striking metal.

A protocol that sends a message to another computer and waits for acknowledgment, often used to check if another computer on a network is reachable.

Latency:

the time it takes for a specific block of data on a data track to rotate around to the read/write head

the time that elapses between a stimulus and the response to it

no link since you didn't give one

derp perp terd boom boom da boom tish

your definition of latency has to do with reading hard drives and data storage, not network traffic

the first one is a sloppy definition that sounds like a grade schooler wrote it

try again

ping cannot be measured unless a response is made, and therefore a round trip has been completed. the 2nd computer has no idea when the first one sent the package, so there is no reference point

and when referencing video games specifically, the ping is the overall response latency

AS IT RELATES TO VIDEO GAMES SPECIFICALLY

cuz you know, ping has no meaning in video games

Backpedal much?

Next you're gonna say KoToR is a terrible RPG.

it was good for what it was, when it was. certainly more ambitious in its constraints than mass defect aka kotor3 and 4

you can find my opinions on ff games after 6 in other threads where ff12 was declared A TOP 5 RPG OF ALL TIME four hours after it came out

yeah i ignored that definition, since it has nothing to do with video games

now you don't wanna talk video games no more?

you're the one bringing up hardware in a discussion about software... hence my first post in the thread where i mocked your usual responses...

i'm getting better at this thread highjacking thing. give me a few more weeks and i'll be better than even fiz.

how much fun is a handful of software without any hardware to play it on?

bitch you came late and you're riding on my jack

and dick

so lemme get this straight... networks make the game 'funner'?

ok, i guess a newly paved, smooth road makes your engine oil clean, too.

have fun playing ping times.

dunno I never really liked the final fantasy games after 6... couldn't get into them, just stopped buying them entirely after not finishing 7 and barely getting into 8 or whatever.

as to Skyrim, it's fun, dunno about best RPG ever. I feel like the main plotline is a bit weak so far, but I just got going in it so hopefully that changes.
