Game 23: Celtics @ Bobcats

I was at the game last night and I just want to say a couple of things.

First off, that is probably one of the worst game I have seen the Bobcats play, if not, the worst.

The arena was pretty much filled but that had a lot to do with the abundance of Celtic fans. I was surrounded by them.

Celtics:

Rondo - He is probably the best player on that team in my eyes. The way he can weave throughout the defense with ease is amazing. He is so good at finding the open man because he can beat his own man so easily.

KG - Still a punk. I feel like he thinks he's the center of the universe and all eyes are on him. He pounds his chest and talks poo too often for my liking. When he was with the T'Wolves, I didn't hate as much. I guess that's what him being on a winning team does, makes him cocky.

At the end of the first half Jackson claimed he got hit on his head from KG on his buzzer beater attempt. He was talking to the ref and KG wanted to chime in and started talking to Jax to stop complaining. It just got me to thinking that KG would get owned in a fist fight between the two.

Bobcats:

Augustin - So passive and timid during the game. He basically took himself out of the game and didn't look to shoot. I am not too sure if he was intimidated or what. You can't get blocked if you don't take any shots.

Jackson - I love him but his turnovers still kill this team. He tries to pass over the top on double teams and he gives up once he commits that turnover. He did do well on assists to Nazr early on.

He at one point starting yelling at Diaw and he was taken out of the game for an extended period after that (not sure if that was the reason though). Jackson was also missing from the end of the bench near the end of the 4th.

Wallace- Most disappointing player on this team for me. I know he doesn't have a lot of skill when it comes to shooting but he's got to find a way to score. People have figured his game out where he just drives, and even now, he's not making those driving shots. Just back off of him.

And his FTs are awful this year. They are called FreeThrows for a reason. All it is is routine and muscle memory.

Diaw - Nothing good but nothing bad

Nazr - Our best player but Larry Brown insists on not playing him in the 2nd half.

Kwame and McGuire don't need to playing as much. MJ, Kwame failed, stop trying to make it work through hell or high water. And McGuire is no good Larry, stop playing him!

I also heard MJ spoke to the players at the end of the game.

this is so sad, after what we did last year i was pumped for this season only to see us fall apart, larry doesnt have control of this team, the players have no confidence in him, wallace is falling off hard and jackson is getting frustrated, the rotation sucks, the players have NO chemistry, just total BLAH charlotte sports are cursed this year

    • After the Chiefs game a 6'5 X would really help in the Red zone. I would also love to add Slayton in FA
    • But again, you can restock a defense through free agency much easier than offensive skill positions. Spend all our cap space on defense, take a true elite prospect who also happens to fit a position of need in T-Mac, and then use the rest of our picks on defense. Again, every season there’s a smattering of great DL, LB, and DB options in free agency, a Top 10 WR never hits free agency, ever.  The only way you get one is through the draft or giving up 1st round picks in a trade for one. If he’s there when we’re on the clock, he has to be the pick, he’s just that good.
    • It must be an early Christmas for JT O'Sullivan having Thielen back so he could put a coal in Thielen's stocking every chance he gets.  Honestly, the biggest surprise is not so much the anticipation. There were those moments here and there last year as well. It's that even that one positive quality he had seemingly vanished his first two games to where it looked like it was all but over, only for it to start coming back some until you get exclamation points all over this game film. And some of those throws were under a lot of duress, something I feel is something new. Finally, those deeper shots are starting to land. Not all of them, but enough that defenses may have to start respecting them. No guarantees whether this will end up as more of anomaly but I certainly hope it isn't. The Green Bay game was a sampler of what BY could be. Against KC, we got a meal. If we could start getting these meals regularly, we might actually have something to work with here.
