That is from '08 no? Didn't he stay and injure his shoulder and get drafted #1 anyway?

Yea sorry, his one from last year is pretty much the same with the cons.

Ryan Leaf, Heath Shuler, Jamarcus Russell, Joey Harrington off the top of my head.

They had a lot more cons on there scouting report then luck. Ryan Leafs had off the field issues on it.

Pros: Can't miss size at 6-6 260 he is a giant quarterback. I have never seen someone throw a ball like him with the flick of his wrist it goes a mile. 80 yards on his feet, 60 yards on his knees and 40 on his butt. To go with that is a 68% completion percentage. Good runner and very tough to bring down. A winner in college and very good in the clutch. Only threw 8 picks.

Cons: Its very hard to find a knock on this. Needs to display more leadership. Only other knock is of his 8 picks is when he is trying to force throws while he is being hit in the pocket. Because of his size and strength he can still stand after being hit and thats when he forces throws.

Overall: Top player in draft barely edging Calvin Johnson. Could be a Daunte Culpepper or Donavan Mcnabb type Quarterback but more tested in college. Should be #1 pick by the raiders could save the franchise.

Pros: He has the strongest arm in NFL history, he's got pretty good speed and he's 6'7" and weighs like 270 pounds. Russell also has very good accuracy completing 68 percent of his passes. He threw 30 touchdowns in the SEC which is the toughest conference in the NCAA.

Cons: It's hard to find anything bad about this future superstar, but he does have a weakness. He's pretty careless with the ball, but his arm is so strong it didn't hurt him in college, but it can in the pros. Good coaching will take care of his gunslinger mentality.

Overall: Russell is probably the most talented quarterback I've ever seen. The body of Daunte Culpepper, the arm strength of John Elway and the precision of Peyton Manning. If he's got the will and some decent coaching Russell will be a sure Hall of Famer.

Pros: An absolute frak of nature. At 6-5 and 265 lbs he looks more like the next great DE instead of an NFL QB. When he has time he there isn't a defense he can not pick apart. He burned some very good defenses in the toughest conference in the nation. See Auburn, Alabama and Tennessee. Good at hitting recievers in stride.

Cons: When pressured tends to make mistakes. One mistake tends to lead to more. Its like a snow ball rolling down a hill. Once it starts, it is very hard to stop, see florida. Has a tendncy to shun running the ball, not that he can't mind you, he just doesn't want to. Due to his lack of running the ball will take sacks at the worst possible time, see Auburn this year. Wants to go for the homerun rather than throwing short. Has to learn to check off more, against Auburn if he can check off to Doucet the Bayou Bengals could be playing in the title game.

Overall: Drafting #1 it is obivious you need a lot of help. One player will not help any team who is drafting #1. That said J-Russ, is a player who can help any team in the NFL whose QB iks not named Brady, Big Ben or Manning (Peyton not Eli). Given time (which is not likely behind the porous line in Oaktown) Russell could make Moss a player in fantasy football leagues again. The next thing Russ has to learn to do is not try and throw the damn football like a nolan ryan fast ball of those dump passes to the RB. Also Russell does have a tendecy to run hot or cold. Against Notre Dame He got hot early and rolled the rest of the game. Against Florida he struggled and cost LSU a chance at the Title game due to not being able to handle the pressure. In short Russell will make a Good long term QB in the NFL, the onl problem is he will be stuck in Oak-slum, with probably the least amount of any NFL Team. Let's be honest they are probably the 3rd most talented team in California behind San Diego and USC.

Strengths:

At 6'6 and 255, Russell is a physical specimen never before seen at the quarterback position. Russell has superior arm strength and throws an exceptional deep ball. He has excelled in two seasons at LSU, but he did have outstanding weapons at his disposal.

Weaknesses:

Russell must work on cleaning up his delivery as he jumps to the next level. He is still very raw as a passer and will likely struggle greatly early in his career at reading complicated NFL defenses. Russell probably has a high "bust factor" due to his lack of experience passing the ball in a pro style offense.

Overall:

The all-time passing leader in Alabama high school history, Russell's physical attributes are his biggest plus and give him the chance to be a truly elite quarterback at the next level. However if Russell does not continue to develop as a passer, he will struggle in the NFL. Russell grades out favorably to other recent first round quarterbacks, but behind the top three quarterbacks in the 2006 draft (Young, Leinart, Cutler).

Russell's scouting report was not glowing when I read it.

Ryan Leaf's was, but there were concerns about him off the field if I recall.

ryan leaf's scouting reports focused on his physical abilities. he wasn't seen as someone who had all the intangibles or was all that mature or polished as a player, but his size, strength, and arm were enough to overcome what he lacked in intangibles.

Still, it proves that no draft pick is ever a guarantee. The thing about Luck is that ALL the scouts are singing incredibly high praise about him...

From today, fast forward to 27:22 mark. They talk about how he is the best NFL prospect in 20 years. Also talk about Harbaugh coming with him to Carolina.

it's cowherd....but he did talk compare carolina with the other teams who are in the chase and said that this is the best place to land. cincy isn't a well run organization and buffalo is...well...buffalo.

he did say that it wasn't just his opinion...it's pretty much a consensus that he is the best prospect since elway.
