Ron Meeks Is New D-Coordinator

Give the guy a chance. Everyone had their preconceived notions about Davidson, and it took us two seasons to really see how good he could be. I'll be optimistic until I'm given reason not to be. And on the bright side, if he's great, we should be in good shape next year. If not, then we've probably only got to endure one more year of Fox if he's really the problem.

To all of you guys who are saying we're going to go 7-9 next season...please delete your accounts from the forum.

To all of you guys saying that D-Will and Otah carried us this year...ok, I guess you can say that. But didn't Fitzgerald and Warner carry Arizona? You can say that same stuff about any team, but A WIN IS A WIN. PERIOD.

Whoever said that we're going to go 7-9 because Fox just brought in another "yes man" at DC...well, didn't he have a "yes man" at DC this past season, and didn't we go 12-4?

Let's all go out and buy Tony Romo jerseys, because the Panthers will be 7-9 for the rest of their existence, there is no hope for the organization at all, the team that was one of the best in the NFC this past year is going to magically become of the worst even though it will have almost all of the same players. Are you kidding me? Can someone please make a seperate forum for the morbid pessimists of the Panther fan nation? Let's reserve this one for logical fans.

For the people complaining.

What would you do? it seems like you guys have all of the answers on the message board. I'm just wondering what would you do with this team and the defense?

It's just frustrating to me that they did all that talk about trying to get back t smashmouth football last year emulating the Steelers and they move to a soft zone coverage and take the bend but don't break mentality.

Especially considering that the teams that floated to the top n the playoffs this year had a very aggressive defense tht was in attack mode all game. Now i know that isn't what the cards were doing for most of the season but it is sure what they did heading into the playoffs.

Aggressive defense is beating zone defense that gives a cushion to offenses. It seemed like the right time to get a staff that could do that but all it seems now is that we are trying to do the same thing as before with a different staff.

Also, considering that it seems that Meeks prefers smaller Dlinemen (or was that Dungy preferred, i don't know) we might try the smaller linemen experiment that we did for a few years but then realized it didn't work and went to a bigger line.

the lessons we learned on offense for some reason can't be applied to defense.

we wanted change but all we got was a change in name.

little reason to believe that next year will be better than this year with regards to how the defense finished up. thinking about the teams we are going to be playing next year it doesn't make me all that optimistic.

I think you'll fit right in with the wound up tighter than a spring section of the forums.(you're not the only one don't worry)

I really don't understand why a lot of people on the board are started to jump on the 3-4 bandwagon?

Is it the Peppers situation?

If the guy wants to walk, let him walk.

I think its silly and immature judgment.

there have always been people on the 3-4 bandwagon. i'm not sure that it is something that we need to be trying.

i'm just playing with yall...take a joke for christ sakes. i don't think meeks is going to change much and Fox will still have his nose in the D.

I mean, nobody thought you was playing but you. So we asked.

I just get tired of all the armchair GMs, that can barely tell you why people do what they do on the field complain about everything. Its gets old. And if they knew it all, they would be coaching and not on this thread.

If half of you believed the 'Dungy's puppet' assertion then why would you believe that as 'Fox's puppet' that he's going to go with undersized linemen since that's in the completely opposite direction of his new puppet master Fox?

MAAAAAAYBE, just maybe he's going to bring his own style or he'll be able to do some great things with the mix of talent we have.

Or he could suck ass. But where's the fun in entertaining those notions?

Stop assuming that the sky is going to cave. Meeks was under Dungy...He is here now. Let the man settle into his office before you guys start complaining. And you know just as well as I do, Dungy ran that defense. The same way Lovie Smith in Chicago ran his defense, no matter who was the DC. Again. Let the man settle in to his office. You don't know what this man is about.

    • Him and Sanders are the only QBs I would consider in the first round. I won’t be upset if we take Sanders, unlike some people on the board. Both have potential to be really good NFL QBs if the teams can develop them.  But as we have seen teams are not willing or are unable to now properly develop rookie QBs.
    • I remember the last time we had a Cam at QB in Charlotte
    • Because Young is so historically bad that it just skews too far outside the normal deviations that perspective is easily lost. That or they just don't want to believe it.  The struggles last year would have been more about the infighting and poor roster building or idiot owner's hiring practices than with Stroud. He wouldn't have been as good but he wouldn't have been ruined here and the pressure was not Carr-esk if you take out the Young created portion from his playing style.  Dude is a young guy on a team coached by a Defensive guy building a good D but not building up the O in year 2 of his HC 1st time gig. Seems familiar... Go look at his output this year and not just some crappy Thursday night implosion game, I would take that in a second and never ever look back every time without a shred of doubt while eating 4 of those games a year with a giant smile on my face.
