Ron Meeks Is New D-Coordinator

I think Meeks is an upgrade compared to Trgovac, besides Meeks has something that none of the other coaches have, and that is a superbowl ring. Right now I hope that we get some more talent on the defensive-line and in the defensive-secondary.

I'd like to see how much more improved our secondary can get. Godfrey just went through his rookie year. Next year, I would suspect more improvement. Sure, Luc or Marshall. Who starts? Or do you get someone else?

I would hope our new DC helps our secondary more than any new additions to it.

But our D-Line needs new additions.

hmm...I think Fox just ordered himself up another "Yes" man. Meeks was Dungy's yes man, and now he'll be Fox's. Awesome. Another 7-9 season! Best thing we can hope for is maybe some more blitzes and better coverage in the secondary.

That and maybe some MYSTERY IN THE PLAYCALLING!

this isn't even english.

bob sanders is incredibly fast. harris is slower than the last day of school.

Sanders ran a 4.35. How many SS in the NFL run a 4.35?

Harris is more of a Mike Brown/Jermaine Phillip type type of safety. Can bang with the best of them and have the capability of making plays in coverage. Not the fastest guy in the world, but is very savvy. All 3 are 4.5 guys, but there smarts on the field outweighs anything else.

If Meeks can turn Hilee Taylor into a Dwight Freeney, then I'll be impressed.

If you ask me though, no coach can make any player...players make themselves with a combination of natural talent and the work ethic to make themselves into the best they can be, that's why Kurt Warner is doing the same thing in Arizona that he did in St. Louis.

from colts forum:

"I never minded Meeks. I kind of always got the idea that it wasn't really him running the defense, but rather Dungy. With Dungy's version of the Tampa 2, it was usually not about scheming, but more about a philosophy. Meeks will probably have the freedom to blitz more in Carolina."

I dunno what to think.

    • Him and Sanders are the only QBs I would consider in the first round. I won’t be upset if we take Sanders, unlike some people on the board. Both have potential to be really good NFL QBs if the teams can develop them.  But as we have seen teams are not willing or are unable to now properly develop rookie QBs.
    • I remember the last time we had a Cam at QB in Charlotte
    • Because Young is so historically bad that it just skews too far outside the normal deviations that perspective is easily lost. That or they just don't want to believe it.  The struggles last year would have been more about the infighting and poor roster building or idiot owner's hiring practices than with Stroud. He wouldn't have been as good but he wouldn't have been ruined here and the pressure was not Carr-esk if you take out the Young created portion from his playing style.  Dude is a young guy on a team coached by a Defensive guy building a good D but not building up the O in year 2 of his HC 1st time gig. Seems familiar... Go look at his output this year and not just some crappy Thursday night implosion game, I would take that in a second and never ever look back every time without a shred of doubt while eating 4 of those games a year with a giant smile on my face.
