Let's Accept Some Basic Truths

And i've always felt that "false start" Gross was overrated.

Absolutely LOVE how a text book tackle is overrated. He was the best tackle to come out of that draft. The best feet, best tech. Due to his lack of athletic ability, it was stated he would be nothing more than a great RT (which he was great at RT)...but he plays the left tackle well enough that many consider him a top 10 tackle in the league.

He isn't the beast that most people want at LT, but he plays it better than he was ever projected to be, so therefore, he was worth his pick in the draft easily.

How anyone can sit there and try to argue otherwise, is crazy.

For a team that puts so much priority on the run, and had problems getting good running backs, no it's not.

I'll admit that I was surprised that the Panthers went running back with their first pick in that draft, but they backed it up, by getting the best mauling tackle in the same draft. They won that draft regardless of the cost that you think is to high.

Yes, it sucks that the tackle has been injured, and hasn't played this season. But, injuries are a fact of line in the NFL. He should still be able to come back from the injury. Even if he doesn't, the immediate impact he made on the running game was huge. That cannot be argued.

Amazing how people sit and argue how good or bad a draft was based upon injury.

Next you'll tell me Jason Peter was a great number one except for the neck injury thing. It didn't work out.

Running back in the NFL is about the shortest life expectancy there is. Two #1s and a 2nd in 4 years is bad judgement. Or perhaps the Panthers record on the field would suggest otherwise.

they have been to 2 superbowls ('81 and '88). won none. overall record of 284-370-2. they've had 2 winning seasons since the panthers came into the league. their owner/gm is a joke.

The Bengals overall record with him as owner is 113-202-1 (.359 winning percentage). Over the course of twenty seasons, the team has had two winning records, two. And in both of those seasons (2005 and 2009) the team lost by double digits in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs.

Nine of those twenty seasons - nearly half - have resulted in five wins or less. This season will probably be number ten and make it an even fifty percent.

Besides firing Wyche, Brown is best known for incorporating language into player contracts that takes money away from them if they speak critically of the organization in public. He has no problem keeping poor character guys around though. Criminal record? No big deal. Criticize the organization though, and you're in trouble :frown2:

Sad that the Bengals have a better all time winning percentage than the Aints, yet every team in the NFL is looking up at the Aints right now. The Aints actually had a 20 year streak without a winning season.

Yeah, something we're still looking for obviously. Since 1995 when the Panthers entered the league we have only 19 more wins than the Bengals. About one win per season. Ouch.

You do not know that a Cam Newton would be a great NFL QB. No one does.
