WoW - Cataclysm

They sell things like pets though.

A good deal of WoW players enjoy and play for the economic portion of it. It's really neat, and if you're good enough, you can own the market. I think if they "sold" gold, it would kind of not make sense and also alienate these players.

And yes, a lot of people love raiding, or pvping, but hate farming for gold, or even leveling in some instances. Some people raid 3-4 times a week, and if they have a full time job, definitely have no time to farm stuff. I'm lucky in that when we start raiding it's only 2 nights a week and no weekends.

They also make a boatload of money doing realm transfers, faction transfers, and character customization. At $25 a pop its unbelievable how much they probably make on it. I wish I created WoW. It is such a big cash cow.

I dont understand why people would waste real money buying uber characters in MMOs. The lower level characters have just as much fun - the game is kind of the same as you go along, just new places to get to and new skills to earn.

I have a 64 Minstrel in LOTRO, but I'm enjoying leveling my 27 Lore Master on another server going through the game again just fine.

SLJ is a leveling freak by the way.

Well we have raid content at some lower levels too. But seriously, having been in some raids, you have to have some experience with the UI and game itself to actually do well. Just barging in on a raid as a newbie is not going to help other people. But selfishness is what this is all about I guess - getting something without actually working for it as the game designers intended...

I got a random epic BOE drop last night and sold it for 15k. Awesome.

Good lord. What was it?

In other news, I finally finished my Netherwing rep last night. LOL, after 3 years.... I finally have:

Reins of the Veridian Netherwing Drake

That's not really me, but the mount is the same.

I never want to see another Netherwing Egg again.

Wow, some gloves sold for 15k? I thought this would have been a staff or 2-hander.

Your server must have a really big population or an amazing economy.

I never seen your reply, sorry. Actually we have a low pop server. People are just dumb right now.

Anyway, this was our first night of 10 man raiding. Killed Magmaw then spent time in Throne of the Four Winds I think.

I think I'm outgrowing this game. It's not as fun as it was when I had less responsibilities in life and all that jazz. They just take it way more serious than I feel like right now. Most of the people I game with are either young and in college (normal) but some of them are single grown mean that do nothing but work and play WoW, which is OK, but I'm not sure I really want to be like that (and I have a wife so).

I want to start hitting the gym, and I'd rather use WoW time to do that than this.

So I'm thinking of an exit plan. Just delete everything and everyone off my facebook and just be done with it? I hate quitting after putting so much time in but that's something someone that can't quit would say and I don't want to be like that.

Freaking MMO's...

Well, for me, it's a swan song. I quit playing for almost 3 years, so I missed a ton of content. Add to that the fact that the old world is about 85% redone, it's almost like a new game.

As such, a few RL friends and I have started over playing lowbies. Some of the changes to old zones are awesome. We're all around level 35 now, and have started running dungeons too. We bulldozed Scarlet Monestary Tuesday night (minus the Cathedral), then did the same for Razorfen Kraul.

Aside from our lowbies and pre-scheduled groupings, I only get between 2 and 5 hours a night to play (sometimes none), so I'm leveling slowly on my higher level toons. (For example, my new Death Knight hit 85 earlier this week, and my old Warlock is at 82... then I've got a 78 Warrior and a 61 Paladin that feel stuck where they are).

All of this basically comes with an understanding that "Cata Raiding" content is probably stuff I won't do until the next xpac. Now, it will be fun going through all the old stuff at higher levels that I didn't get to do (like the Ice Crown Citadel, Black Temple, etc.). I've also removed myself from PVP considerations, because PVP = a Gear check, and I've accepted I'll be behind the curve where that's concerned. I might run a BG here and there, but not hardcore at all.

I quit for 2 years myself and what I did before I quit was make money for the time I spent by selling the account.. You should really try to sell your account to get something back before you quit again, so you get something back and feel better about yourself for spending so much time on it. :)

When I quit Ill just donate my account to my guild. Ive been playing with these guys for most of my time in the game and have a couple of very well geared toons due to many hours of raiding with them.

What server are you on?

I may need to find a EST timed server. When/if/hopefully I find a new IT job it would be easier to play. Right now raids (on Mon/Thurs) end at 1am est and I don't see that being doable with a regular job.

    • His o loaded with swift, dj, Keenan and Rome was inconsistent at best. The d was bad. And the game management was atrocious and lost them games.  He was terrible and made the team worse. I wish they kept him
    • That is my point.  I think teams make a huge mistake when they pay their decent to average QBs top QB money because they feel that they have to match the market or lose their investment--There is no way, for example, that Tua or Prescott or Murray should all be making more than Mahomes--I mean, Dak makes $15m per season more than Mahomes. People say, "Well, when its his turn...." But that is not how it should be--so my point was that Bryce can be doing mediocre to good enough in 2 years, but the way it is going, you have to pay him at the starting QB rate--currently $60m.  So even if you think he will continue to improve, at $60 m, he would eliminate any chance for a ring---so my view is, if he is not elite, you cut him.  So you draft QBs now and see what you can make of them.
    • With two 4ths and three 5ths I’m hoping we can kill it on adding depth. Take a gamble with the two 7ths.  First 3 picks id love to address the defense. I expect Tuttle, Robinson, and Jewell to all be on the 2025 roster but not after that. Be a good time to add depth and let them develop a year.
