Who wants Urban Meyer as coach?

Amazing. You are advocating a guy with zero NFL coaching experience (i.e., less than Mike Singletary) to take over an NFL team after a few good seasons at an academic school in the weakest major division in college football.

Um.

The ACC?

The Big East?

the Pac-10 only has Oregon, Stanford, and Arizona State. Not counting (the real) USC, Washington, Oregon State, Arizona, and UCLA in the past couple of years.

I'm not saying Harbough will be a hot commodity or even get an offer but to think that Meyer is a better NFL candidate shows how little JPJR knows about sports, that's all.

This is really good stuff you really are the real deal.

I wish I could drink the kool aid and and agree that an unproven inexperienced college coach is the solution because his brother is a pro coach. Love those credentials and all but I'm still not there...

Guys I'm trying to figure out what Harbaugh's biggest win was this year since none of them were against ranked teams.

Would you say 8-5 USC? I know they just lost to Notre Dame but they were good right?

What was Washington 6-6?

Anyone I am forgetting? Cal? What was their record?

I don't get how everybody is on the Harbaugh bandwagon but yet people turn away the Brian Schottenheimer supporters because the only reason we like him as a potential candidate is because of the name yet what the hell do you think Harbaugh fans are doing? Exactly...

I only bring up Schottenheimer's name because, unlike Harbaugh, is currently a coach in the NFL, where as Harbaugh has only been a positional coach for a short stinch.

True, Schotty has never been a head coach but he has created successful offenses since joining the Jets and has a very similar style the way JR wants the offense to look in Carolina which is a power run game that sets up the pass.

I don't know if Schotty will get a look but I wish people would give him a good look before shooting him down as a candidate.

So Urban Meyer = Harbaugh?

Not by a long shot...

Meyer is a spread offense guy who never played a down in the NFL and inherited a program at Florida with a long tradition of winning and a recruiting pipeline equivalent to Texas, SoCal and Bama... he's also a bit of a head case.

Harbaugh has extensive experience in the NFL as a QB, some experience in the NFL as a position coach and took a Stanford program that hadn't had a bowl appearance since 2001 and has higher academic standards than Notre Dame and within 2 years he had them nationally ranked and playing in bowl games again. He's had all this success at Stanford while running a pro-style offense.

I don't know what kind of NFL HC Harbaugh would be, but to equate him to Urban Meyer is ridiculous... Meyer benefits from a steady pipeline of elite atheletes running a gimmick offense. Spurrier was more qualified than Meyer to be an NFL HC and how'd that work out for him?

Nice work seeing the big picture.

lil schotty's main problem is that he hasn't learned how to tailor his offense to his players. the dude is incredibly smart and has an incredibly complex offense, but it is too complex and he has no desire to simplify it. sanchez has had to ask for it to be simplified and rex ryan has told him to tone it down. when it is toned down, it is successful, but when schotty runs one of his complex schemes, it usually results in fail.

the thing that is holding him back is a lack of maturity, but i don't think he's too far off from getting there. he needs to sit behind someone like ryan for a while and learn some things about leading a team.

Meyer won't coach anymore so it doesn't matter if we think we should go for him. He has cited his family as his reason for resigning. I'm sure he was being paid well at Florida and he knows what a championship feels like. Maybe he wants to settle down for a while.

He'll be a HC one day for somebody...Maybe not this year, but someday, he's got talent
