Evening ... I'm a British convert to the NFL, having been won over during my trip to the States this summer. It wasn't the pre-season Dolphins v Cowboys I attended that got me, nor the ESPN fetishism (much like our skysports and "soccer") ... it was stopping off at Lake Havasu in the Arizonian Desert, 110 degree heat outside, sipping a few bud lights and watching that first game of the season - Packers v Saints. I barely knew what a down was at that time, or why they threw those funny little yellow handkerchiefs on the field, but since then I've made it my mission to catch up on all the history and hype surrounding America's game.

Naturally, a sport's more fun when you have a team to root for. I'm not gonna lie when I say that Cam Newton is the main reason why the Panthers caught my eye. Slightly embarrassing, really, but we all have to start somewhere, right? And if I'm not from the States, that somewhere can't be geographical (and if it was, I'd have to be a Giants fan). I haven't been able to learn the ins and outs of the roster, as most of the games we get over here are focused towards the Giants, Packers, Saints and the Cowboys as you can imagine - it hasn't helped that the Panthers never looked like mounting a consistent playoff challenge. So I can't be a die-hard right away, but hopefully reading some of your posts I can keep learning about the Panthers and all those complicated formations and routes that you guys like to play ... maybe I'll even be able to start bashing some play calls without making a *** of myself one day

Good stuff. It's funny... I felt the same way about soccer almost a decade ago when I first visited the UK. I played in soccer all the way through high school when I was growing up, but I was never really educated on world soccer and how every worked. As far as all the leagues and pyramid system and UEFA and FIFA, etc. American football is definitely much more complicated as far as actual on the field play goes, but you'll get use to it and it will become second nature in no time. I love both sports though. I'm not sure if you actually said you're a soccer fan though, but I'm assuming you are, hah. But yeah... believe me, we understand how annoying the media outlets are like ESPN and such. Welcome!

Hello guys and gals...My name is Jeffrey. It is nice to be part of a community of other Panthers fans. A lot of the people I know are Cowboys and Steelers fans which can drive me insane at times. I do not have to feel alone anymore in my suffering. Anyway, I have been a Panther fan from the beginning. I am 24 and one of the earliest memories I have is watching the Panthers in that 1996 season and just falling in love with them right then and there. Then, of course, came the playoffs that year and that NFC Championship game that still upsets me, when they lost to GB.

I remember the 1-15 year when it seemed the Panthers were more in the comedy genre than playing anything that closely resembled football. Then '03 and what should have been a Super Bowl win. We were having a SB party in our home and when Muhammad caught the TD pass from Delhomme in the 4th quarter, I thought we had them. Never have I seen a place erupt with as much elation and pure joy than when we saw Muhammad make that catch. Despite the loss, it was amazing to me how quickly John Fox was able to get things turned around for the Panthers in that short a time span.

Those are just a few of the things I remember most and right off the top of my head at this hour. The point I am trying to make is that I am one of the biggest Panther fans you will find. I live and breathe Panthers football. I got it from my Grandfather, who was a die-hard Redskin fan until the Panthers started playing, when he immediately switched sides to become a die-hard Panther fan. Unfortunately, he passed away this past year but I know he was there, front row to all the Panthers games this year. He'll get to see the Panthers Super Bowl parade one day soon, I know it. I love it when they win but when they lose, it takes me 3 hours after the game to calm down enough to speak to people. lol I love the direction this team is going and I am really glad to find a group like this one where I can share in the joy, grief, elation, and sorrow that is Carolina Panther football. I'M NOT ALONE!:driving:

Thank you for allowing me to be here. Looking forward to being part of things around here. Really nice to meet all of ya! Go Panthers!
