If you're suggesting taking Luck and trading Clausen then why not just go ahead and trade him. The team has a ton of holes, go ahead and get that draft pick so you can use it now. It's not like his trade value is magically going to go up from him sitting on the bench for a couple years.

i agree. not that he won't be a decent qb... but naming him the next manning he can't live up to the hype.

He will have every opportunity to flourish as he will be buried in the irrelevance and obscurity of Carolina Panther football.

What I'm sayin' is nobody will know he's even on the team come the next football season... whenever that may be.

Clausens big problem has been the expectations most of us had from him being touted the "most pro ready" QB in the draft. Then he comes in and can't handle the center snap or make a handoff to the RB without f'ing it up. How, exactly, are we supposed to reconcile those facts? Most of us didn't expect him to come in and light it up, and if he had been playing this way as a 6th round draft pick many would be pretty pleased, but I'm not seeing "pro ready" at all.

Having said that, he has made some nice throws the last couple of games and has definitely improved during the year despite some pretty crappy stuff going on all around him with injuries and overall ineptitude so he probably deserves more time to prove himself. If Luck, however, is available when we pick I don't think there is any chance we don't take him unless we get a helluva deal from somebody.

Hard to judge a guy who has a terrible coaching staff behind him. Not saying Clausen is the guy but he could very well be better than he has looked this year. So could this entire team for that matter.
