Harbaugh expected to accept extension?

It could happen, never know. What we've been doing hasn't won us a Superbowl. JR wants a Superbowl. Maybe he does what he's not done before.

Either way, it doesn't hurt to speculate. I doubt he'll be here, and I don't think we need him to succeed, but I do hope we get Luck (or Newton if he doesnt declare), and an offense-minded coach.

I really don't like the "fire and passion" types, which makes me the lone Bear fan in the universe that thinks Ditka is a caricature and blames him for the lack of dynasty, rather than congratulate him for the lone Superbowl win.

Anyway, best thing that can happen for you guys is for Hairbag to prove what a dbag he really is at Stanford for a few more years.

I don't know who the right guy is for you guys, I just know that falling for the "fire and da passion" stuff is just meatball knee-jerk reactionary anger.

The screaming and yelling asshole coaching works in high school and college. It works in the NFL as long as you are winning a ton of games. As soon as you start losing, pro players that are getting paid millions don't really react well to being screamed at by a guy that isn't winning

I wouldn't be upset with Harbaugh as our HC but I think that there are better candidates out there.

I think one of these two men will be our next HC:

Russ Grimm

Perry Fewell

Both of them fit exactly what we've look for in a HC in the past. They are middle-aged, conservative-minded guys (from a football standpoint) with extensive NFL coaching experience. I like Perry Fewell, not so sure about Grimm... the fact that the Steelers passed him over bugs me.

Fewell may sound nice to some but why in god's name would we sign the Defensive Coordinator ffrom the Giants? Aren't we just getting finished up with one? haha

Harbaugh will be at Michigan or in the NFL next year. He has the family pedigree for coaching successfully in the NFL. If he goes to an NFL team, it will be either a team with a good QB in place (San Diego or Dallas, but Garrett seems to have earned the DAL HC job), or a team that is in a position to draft Luck. The most likely destination is Michigan though, as he didn't go to some recent anniversary celebration of the 85 or 86 Wolverines team because he knew he'd be the center of attention. So I'd say there is a chance that he comes here still, albeit minute. Also, Stanford says Harbaugh says he'll accept the extension, but you can bet your bottom dollar Harbaugh won't sign it until after the college and NFL seasons end.

It may be fitting that Harbaugh comes here to take over a 1-15 team here, considering he finished his NFL career playing (well, he was on the roster but never played), for the 2001 Carolina Panthers, who we all know also went 1-15. So that's something to think about I guess.
