Anyone Still Want to Defend Clausen?

When that second round is going to be in the Mid 30's

But hey, with Hurney as a GM that pick would have wasted anyways.

It wasn't the O-line's fault when threw that pick-6 today. Obviously the O-line is playing at an almost unidentifiable caliber compared to the past 2 years, but Jimmy isn't making it any better.

I've always given Jimmy the benefit of the doubt (hell I still somewhat do) but Jimmy's showing so far this year is just bad.

Not rookie bad.

But baaaad.

No second round pick is "the Farm". No need to exagrate

last play of the game when he rolled out left TE was open in the middle but because he didnt see him and has a wierd throwing motion which makes him unable to throw ascross his body pass incomplete. Clausen had alot of flaws in college, the flaws just look worst on the pro level

Wait. You want him to throw across his body? Genius.

As for Clausen. I'd defend him because it's not his fault, but fug this team. If they can't be bothered neither can I.

He has a very bad habit of back pedaling instead of stepping up even when there is a pocket and he seems to very rarely feel pressure coming. If he sees it he runs away, but doesn't seem to feel it. He's got to learn to step up consistently when a rusher is coming from behind. A couple times he came inches from having the ball knocked out of his hand and could have avoided if he just took a step up. He does seem to rattle too easily. He actually looked good in the first half for the most part but fell apart after getting hit and pressured a bit. That just encourages teams to bring it harder.

Lol yeah cause the FO knew that we would be picking first in the draft when they traded that pick...

And no, it wasn't the O-line's fault that he threw the pick-six. It was their fault that he had absolutely no time to settle in the pocket and try to make a play after the first quarter. I'm not denying that Clausen has done badly, and I'm not saying that he would be good if the O-line was better--what I am saying is that a rookie QB needs help from his frickin O-line.

A point that I'm not arguing. Jimmy's just a bad rookie.

Nothing more, nothing less.

While I wouldn't defend Clausen and say that he is a good QB, I still would reserve judgement on his future based upon this years play.

No one on offense and 2/3rds of the D have looked nothing better than horrible all year long.

Kalil is not the future Pro-bowl C he looked like last year. Gross looks like he could be replaced with a half full sack of 'taters. Wharton was a terd when he was in the game. To be honest SS hasn't really looked like he was ever at any time the best WR in the game at one time. Williams was not inspiring and looked like a 3rd string RB, up until this game so did Stewart. King, who used to be reliable at least, is now one of the worst TE's in the league.

These are all guys that HAVE to perform at a higher level if a rookie QB is going to succeed.

I am as excited as anyone about the possibilities that Luck holds. However, if this TEAM doesn't start playing better then Luck will look just as bad or worse than Claussen does right now. You can bank on that.

Jimmy Claw-son is a completely waste of a QB. He is pathetic. Really pathetic. No need to go into all the bad things he does, he just doesn't have "it". Get him the *** out of town.

God i hate him. and don't go with the o-line. he is pathetic even with a bad o-line. should not be a football player. needs to go into figure skating. what a bad qb impersonator he is. NFL is laughing at our a$$es.
