yeah man if only we'd start pike or ae, our o-line would suddenly look awesome. obviously, matt moore, bsp, and jimmy clausen are the problems. why can't fox see that? so glad we're getting rid of him!

Clausen has also thrown more TD's to opponents than his own team.

He hasn't thrown a TD in more than 5 games and 1 td in 200 attempts. Keep on slurpin the Fox koolaid.

I'm sure you saw how bad Clausen was 3 weeks ago. He improved exponentially against the Browns and in the first quarter against the Seahawks.

But, really, what is improvement from complete poo? Vomit?

Clausen didn't do squat against the Browns. He was horrific against Seattle. All he did against Seattle is hand the ball of and make two throws to the sideline on first read. That wasn't improvement....it was Clausen again showing the only thing he can do. Check down or throw to the sideline on his first reads when it shows single coverage.

Sad what passes for improvement around here. Clausen and 60% of the linemen on both sides of the ball will not and should not have jobs at this time next year. Rather than stick with poo and hope it smells better this team just needs to start over at QB and on both lines.

Moore also did a lot of really bad things that had little to do w/ OL play. He made poor decisions and made poor throws to open guys. Also, you aren't taking into account what defenses did differently this year......early in the season Fox even admitted it was pointless watching film on opponents b/c they weren't operating the same when they played Carolina and everyone was playing Carolina the same.

Moore was never scared to stay in the pocket. He stood in the pocket and would step up into the pocket. He have the team a chance. He made a lot of poor decisions and throws.

There are good QBs making plays that have seen similar pressure to what Clasuen has seen this year. They react to it differently.

just one more about vick/cutler: those two are very athletic...especially cutler need his athletic ability. he would suck behind your crappy o-line either...the bears are good b/c their defense is tremendous. cutler does still throw some horrible interceptions.

Fox said studying an opponents defense was pointless earlier.....he said it was pointless b/c all teams were simplying coming into games and playing Carolina w/ the "Carolina blueprint". It meant every team was doing the same thing to stop us.....therefore there was nothing new to prep for regardless of opponent for the most part.

Cutler might be athletic. He ain't a great QB and he plays behind a worse OL and comparable WR talent. 11th best QB rating in the NFL. I would have no problem w/ Jimmy throwing some picks.....if he at least did some positive to go w/ it.

Jimmy might not be a great qb so far, but I have seen times where he made completions on a consistent basis (see first drive of Seahawks game). I'm not going to go out and say that Jimmy isn't part of the problem, but so much of it lies with the O-Line. How in the world is he supposed to make good decisions and make plays when he constantly has players from the other team trying to wack the daylights out of him? Also, the playcalling for the Panthers offense sucks. People often say "run run pass" for a reason; that's what we do 90% of the damn time! We run the ball in such inconvenient and stupid situations (like 2nd and horribly long, 3rd down sometimes) that it makes our offensive playcalling so predictable that other teams just blitz the living hell out of us to ensure that our offense never sniffs the redzone!

It's not just the run, run, pass. It's the protection schemes and the routes. Panthers WRs have 1 route - 10 yard hitches. Sometimes when the TE runs a flag underneath the WR, the WR will run a go pattern. Not a whole lot to work with there.

The whole right side of the line is garbage. Jeff Davidson is an offensive line guru, which makes the situation even worse. I don't think the linemen know where to slide, but I guess that should be expected if your QB can't read a defense.

the same way other QBs occassionally make plays w/ pressure in their faces. Again, Jimmy has done absolutely nothing that the OL can no longer be THE excuse. Sure, we can say the OL isn't playing good but that still doesn't justify exactly how poor he has performed. Neither does the playcalling.

I just want to see Clausen step up and throw it. I don't care if he throws a pick that way because at least he'd be trying to make a play and get the defense to respect us. You can't tell me that Steve Smith, Gettis, and LaFell are shut down every play. He's just afraid to try or he isn't seeing them when they get open.
