How to fix the NFL's labor impasse

Three words...rookie...salary...cap. Each pick in the draft is slotted monetarily. No negotiations. No holdouts.

Owners spend WAY too much money on unproven talent. And yet, they have to ante up or risk losing the next Peyton Manning or Tom Brady to a competitor.

Veterans bust their hump for years, then watch some schmuck who looked good in college (EVERYBODY looked good in college, otherwise they wouldn't be there) get more money than they do on their first contract.

It's a win-win, for everyone except rookies and their agents. Owners get a huge concession. Players are giving up something that, truth be told, most of them probably agree with.
