CBA 2011 Thread

For what it's worth, I thought their "show of solidarity" before the very first game of the year was absolutely absurd, and I lost a lot of respect for all the players at the time. These guys are making a minimum of what? 365k a year?? Meanwhile, a very very large number of people are losing their jobs & homes, that only make 50K (or less) per year. These players think they need MORE money in a recession?? They are out of their minds. They are not #1. The fans are. Without the fans, the players make bunk.

Also, FWIW, if there is a lockout, and we lose out on a 2011-2012 draft pick, and then are placed in a draft lottery, it could potentially cripple the Carolina Panthers franchise as it would make it extremely hard to recover from, considering how JR positioned the team w/o resigning any FAs or decent talent.

It was the owners fault in the first place to decide to pay these guys so much money. Now they want to settle down the spending. I could see why the players would get offended but you can't blame them for taking what they can get. Obviously they get paid a ridiculous amount of money to play a game.

I don't want to hold billionares/millionares to a different standard than most but this is getting a little ridiculous.

Owners need to show players exactly what they need to remain profitable down the very last detail.

Rookie cap to make them earn it, doesn't not seem hard because it's a win/win.

Healthcare for pretty much all veterans with benefits based on the serverity of the injury and time spent in the league. Nobody will stand up to public pressure to not do that it's only right.

Last, find out what the difference in revenue sharing is and split it down the middle King Solomon style. That's it. I don't give a poo on if your income is affected when you are already in the top 1% of the country in terms of annual salary on the cheapest contract you can get. It shouldn't be a big issue at all.

Fight for what's fair but not to the point of a lockout. Swallow some pride, see how fortunate you are and move forward.

And do so with realism. In the past three years, my pay was frozen for 2 and cut 5% in one. Benefits were slashed. I am in a position of demand, but even I know not to go in begging for a raise right now. These players are in the entertainment industry, one that is hardest hit in uncertain times. Not a good time to get a great deal. That is reality.
