Why we should NOT draft Andrew Luck

Ohio

Just to change conversation...

Matt Stafford was a dang good QB when he came out, is the best QB from his draft class, unfortunately just hampered by injury. Cam right now is the "in", but he's a bit over-rated in my opinion.

I have seen both play in person. matt was good and better prepared for the NFL no doubt. But just watching them play, the talent level, Matt is not even close to Cam Newton.

Cam throwing motion is awful and the offense does to translate to the NFL at all. But he has just as good of an arm as Matt does ( you show see some of thoes 15 yard 6 routes he throws, damn), is much bigger, faster and harder to bring down in the open field. I would be willing to say he could play QB, WR, TE, or LB in the NFL if given enough time to learn it.

Now he may steal everyones computer on the team that he goes to and his dad may make the head coach pay him for preaching to the team before games or something like that. But just on talent, not off the field stuff, the 2 best players in college are Newton and Petterson at LSU, and yes I have seen him play in person to and damn he is good.

But if Luck turns out to be like Clausen/Moore/BSP/Pike? See this is the problem, if fans ran the team we'd go 0-16 every year and pick a QB #1 in the draft for 7 years in a row, cut the one from the prior year and keep getting our asses handed to us.

Damn I hate losing, but it isn't losing. Excluding our win, we've been blown out (Margin of defeat over 1 possession) in all but 2 games.

When people say they see Clausen progressing I seriously wonder if they have watched any games this season. He hardly steps up in the pocket, he holds the ball for far too long, resorts to scrambling and throwing it away way too much, has seemingly no touch on his passes and stares down his receiver the whole time. This has been evident from his first start to his last. There has been no progression.

And you COULD blame it on being a rookie being put in a bad situation but he's supposed to be a FRANCHISE qb.....promise must be shown at some point and it's obvious it's not going to happen. Look at Sam Bradford. Went to one of the worst teams in the league and is playing well and has improved his teams play with his PROMISING play.

Luck #1 please and thank you

People want to blame Clausen had some have provided valid arguments, well how about we give Tony Pike a shot, why draft a QB if you never plan on giving him a shot?

You're seriously suggesting the Panthers should pass on Andrew Luck in order to give Tony Pike a shot?

Wow :frown2:

I did not know I was dealing with people who were incapable of understanding the simplest of things. We should have been playing Pike earlier, to see if we have a diamond in the rough, and if he played great, no need to draft Luck. Common sense 101 :frown2:

Its called a Backup.

Why waste a draft pick on a backup when u can get the stay at home dad?
