I don't get it.. I understand many of you don't like clausens play thus far..nor do I. But he showed improvement in the browns game. Its like you are rooting against him.. wouldn't it be better if he shows he can be productive... and we can trade down.. and fill other needs on our team instead of drafting another Qb? I'm all for taking luck if Jimmy doesn't show he can be a long term starter... but too root against him? We have other needs that could be filled as well.

Nah, people were calling his play in the Browns game like it was.....garbage. 40 seconds left in the game he hits one pass that ultimately meant nothing......and people then forget about what he did the entire game.

I am not rooting against him.....he just plays like a 7th round or undrafted rookie. Not what was advertised.

never said he was better.....said he wasn't on the field enough for a fan to make certain judgements. I side with players up until they get on the field and suck.

In todays NFL QB is the single most important position on the field, you need a great one to be successful Clausen even if he improved 100% would be just mediocre, given how when early drafted qb's have faired in recent drafts (ryan, sanchez, flacco, freeman, stafford) and how ones with flaws fell (clausen)

I think passing on a guy that is a better prospect than all of them would be moronic we would be beating ourselves for it for the next decade.

Brady Quinn is another example of falling because of flaws too. The ND hype machine is insane to say the least.

QBs taken in the first 2 rounds in the last 5 years:

2005: Alex Smith (#1), Aaron Rodgers (#24), Jason Campbell (#25)

2006: Vince Young (#3), Matt Leinart (#10), Jay Cutler (#11), Kellen Clemens (#45), Tarvaris Jackson (#64)

2007: JaMarcus Russel (#1), Brady Quinn (#22), Kevin Kolb (#36), John Beck (#40), Drew Stanton (#43)

2008: Matt Ryan (#3), Joe Flacco (#18), Brian Brohm (#56), Chad Henne (#57)

2009: Matthew Stafford (#1), Mark Sanchez (#5), Josh Freeman (#17), Pat White (#44)

2010: Sam Bradford (#1), The Golden Calf of Bristol (#25), Jimmy Clausen (#48)

CONCLUSION: Assuming anything about a player because of where they were taken in the draft is the right way to get on the wrong side.

If you take out second rounders this list looks a lot better.

It meant nothing cuz it was Kasay who missed 2 field goals.

And please dont use that arguemnt well if jimmy hadnt thrown that pick.

Every nfl fan would take qb who throws 1 pick vs nfl kicker who misses 2 inside 45 yards in the same game

Every nfl fan would take a kicker who had 11 points over a QB who had 0 in the same game. Just saying.
