Rookie QB'S stats vs same opponents

You don't need stats, just watch them play and if you can't see the difference then you haven't watched much football or are just a Clausen fan.

Only reason I posted the stats, cuz of being saying Clausen sucks. If people watched much football or werent clausen haters these stats wouldnt need to be posted.

Biggest complaints I hear about Clausen

1.He's a checkdown machine

these stats show you against the same opponents vs. the 2 other rookie qb's he has a higher yards per average throw and throws more yards per game.

That's the biggest complaint you hear about Clausen?

What about the fact that he doesn't throw TDs, has a terrible throwing motion, leaves the pocket too early, doesn't move the offense when the game still matters, is wildly inaccurate, doesn't push the ball upfield, etc.

Stats can say that he had a 38 yard pass to Goodson. If you watched the game you know it should have been a pick 6.

That's what I mean when I say stats don't matter and you don't need them to judge Clausen. Comparing him in some handpicked way to other rookies vs 1 or 2 common opponents is ridiculous.

Since stats tell us everything, This is the same thing people tell me with Julius Peppers. It shows how well you elevate the people around you and how you lead. Clearly Bradford is doing a better job of this.

If you watched the game his td pass was to stewart and the furthest thing from a pick 6

If you watched the game, this past game, it was to Goodson. I'm not sure about the yardage but it was somewhere in that range. He threw it in the flat to Goodson who did all the work. That inflates his YPA.

If you are talking about the lone TD to Stewart 8 weeks ago then yes, I remember that he flushed himself out of the pocket and with a running start underthrew Stewart so bad that he had to turn around and catch it like a punt. Picture attached for your reference.

Put your foot in your mouth some more please.

How do you justify his noodle arm then? 50 to the 5.. and that was a windup. Still underthrew the receiver who was 5 yards open in the EZ.

Picture of JStew catching a punt/Clausen pass is also reference. I believe the ball traveled something like 36 yards with a running head start.

He hasnt thrown more td's for a few reasons. He has only had 15 pass attempts inside the redzone(only 4 inside the 10),and players have dropped td passes in the endzone on him.

As far as leaving the pocket too early, I dont agree, our line sucks and he gets flushed out alot.

What qb has been allowed to move the ball upfield under Fox when were not losing??

Also there have been numerous times where Clausen managed to get us to third and short, only to have Davidson call a run play.

Clausen has had thrown a few deep balls thru the air, to Lafell and Gettis that were pretty accurate

Yes, it was vs the Bears in week 5. Pass was intended for Lafell.

Clausen regresses badly. After a solid showing last week against New Orleans in his second start, Clausen fumbled three times, though he didn’t lose any of them. He also badly underthrew rookie wideout Brandon LaFell on a potential 43-yard score. Clausen, who was 9-for-22 for 61 yards, was replaced by former starter Matt Moore late in the fourth quarter.

How do you deny all the deep passes he threw to Golden Tate and Michael Floyd in college? You think his arm all of a sudden got weaker?? Hes not Jay cutler when it comes to arm strength, but I wouldnt call it a noodle arm

A running head start is not how qb's air it out. They need to have their feet set and time to wind up to air it out, not a running head start.

I wasn't the only one questioning the arm strength. Alot of those plays to Tate and Floyd have huge YAC yards. Numerous Scouts said he lacked arm strength and his 7 yard underthrow to Lafell earlier this year is just another notch on the belt. We have players on this roster who dont even play the qb position and can throw 15+ more yards and more accurate at that depth.

There is a big difference in throwing the ball up for grabs in college when you have pro receivers against scrub DBs and trying to throw an accurate deep ball in the NFL. If Jimmy had played in a conference against tougher competition you could realistically figure that a lot of those balls get knocked down or intercepted. Factor in the YAC yards on top of that and wallah.

I understand you don't get a running start to throw it deep. My point was that his arm is so weak he can't throw it that far on the run, only like 36 yards. Most people on this board could throw it 36 backpeddling. It's not even like he had to be that accurate, literally no one was around Stew, he just had to heave it out there.

Then the LaFell one where he had all day in the pocket, stepped into his throw, and it landed so far away from LaFell he couldn't even make an attempt at it.
