Okay - as someone who has watched Herm for the past 3 years in KC, I really don't understand what the fascination with this guy is. Honestly, from what I've seen he is just a more vocal John Fox: surrounds himself with comfortable, unimaginative assistants, is slow to adapt to his personnel, and lacked either the clout with the front office or the know-how (probably both) to build any semblance of anything resembling a solid defense. A good bit of the credit for the recent disasters called the Chiefs goes to King Carl, but I have to assume that the coach has at least a say in personnel matters, and that team has been an absolute disaster. 10 sacks in an entire SEASON... you're kidding me right?!? Watching these guys was just like watching the 2006 version of the Panthers - some flashes of talent, but something was obviously missing. Looked an awful lot to me like discipline and mental toughness were the missing ingredients, and Carolina struggles with those enough as it is. Don't get me wrong: the Panthers made huge strides forward this year and should only continue forward next year, but I think that had an awful lot to do with internal pressure being applied to Foxy and his boys.

That is just the opinion of one die-hard Panthers fan stuck in Chiefs territory, but I really don't care to have him as a DC of this team.

You know, I don't know a lot about Edwards, but I began to suspect the same from him when I came across this blurb on his Wiki page:

Edwards' game plans have often been criticized as too conservative with little or no imagination. A prime example of Edwards' game plans, the lone Chiefs 2006 playoff game was one of the worst offensive performances in recent history.

Conservative, little imagination and one of the worst offensive performances in recent history. I had to do a double take to make sure I hadn't wondered onto Fox's page.
