Not saying MMA isn't dangerous, because it is. But MMA and boxing are SO different it's not even funny. Boxers use massive gloves and all they DO is foucs on the head. MMA fighters use small pads and kick legs, kick the body, grapple, go for subs, etc. Boxing is the most brutal sport for head injuries out there. MMA? Not so much. Though his line about being hit unconcious three times was wrong, I'll give you that. That ain't good for anyone's brain.

Then again, Chuck Liddell is about as coherent as Ali. Durrr...I'm durrr Chuck Lidurrrrr, Liddell durrr baahhh burrrrrr.

Really? Even though many MMA fights end up with one fighter pummelling his opponent's face into the canvas to make him lose consciousness?

After a take down, position change, and many other things occur will bombs start being dropped on the ground.

in MMA you can lose by ko without a 10 count, decision after 3 or 5 rounds, submission, tko is when a fighter isn't intelligently defending himself as opposed getting knocked down 3 time, etc.

the matter isn't which is more dangerous, but the truth is that boxing has a higher chance at resulting in long term brain/head injuries. doesn't mean mma is innocent, but boxing does create that increased risk

So are they going to start fining offensive players who use their helmet to plow through defenders?

That is what happened here. This fine the players for these hits was rushed through in mid-season. Weird, since they never do that...but that is another subject. So, since this was rushed, hopefully enough fans, teams and the media will bitch loud enough for the NFL to revisit the new rules and tweak them to include offensive players who do it. Like in this case. I just can't believe nobody in the room said, "Hey!!! The offensive player lowered his head! Shouldn't we fine him instead?"

eh, maybe somebody did and he was fired....

Again, if the NFL cared about these hits, they would have thrown the flag on Brent Celek, who hit a defenseless defender (Benard Pollard) helmet to helmet. Had it been the other way around, Pollard would have gotten flagged by the rules. THIS is why this system is effed up.
