This years Draft deeper than last years???

I've seen lots of post comment on how this years draft is weak talent wise.

I think this years draft is deeper infact than last years draft which was deemed best in the last few years.

Look at the number of good qb prospects coming out, where locker would have been number one last year he's looking at third best right now.

A class that includes Luck,Mallet,Locker,Cam Newton,Kellen moore,Ponder,Devlin and other elite talents.

The running back position is shallow and not as deep as last season.

The wr position has the potential to be one of the best ever with green, jones, baldwin looking like first rounds.

you have talents like micheal floyd,Blackmon,Broyles guys who any other year would have been first rounders.

The OL isnt so great this year but the Defensive ends are pretty good.

You have Bowers,Clayborn,Quinn,Bailey and others making it elite.

Solid dts and linebackers with great cornerbacks.

With the right picks in place team could make vast improvements this year.

I just wanted to see what the board thought about depth in this years class.

Last year was by far deepers than this year's. Locker would have been a 2nd round pick last year. Don't believe the media on draft value.. they are not always right. Sam Bradford would have been the #1 pick regardless if Locker came out. In fact, Luck and Mallett would be the only 2 1st round QBs that you just named.

The draft is fairly top heavy this season with not a lot of depth.

that's the feeling I'm getting....we have two third rounders (compensation for Pep) so don't be surprised if we move back up into the second round

We can't trade comp picks, so I'm not sure what we would have to give up to get back into the second would be worth it. See Everette Brown.

You are either ten years old,are legally retarded, or you just don't watch any football and just look at stats. (that still wouldn't explain your third grade writing)

the fact that you said certain positions aren't that deep this year just clarifies that last year was in fact deeper. there was no real weak position last year, because all the best players declared for the draft early so they could get payed in the event there was a rookie cap installed or there is no football next year.

Every position was deep last year. there was second round talent and even some third round talent that could have been first round talent any other year. poo was wild.

Just because i don't know the exact numbers on those positions. last years class was not good at lb at all.

i agree with this.

thats a lot of the reason i've said we should trade back into the 2nd and then trade away all the picks we are allowed to trade after the 3rd round for vets.

with the exception of the top tier of talent, this isn't an incredible draft at all.

are you implying Hurney is scared to trade away future picks? haha I didn't say I agreed with it I just said don't be surprised

Can you do us all a favor and never post again?

All of your posts are fact-less and opinionated with no intelligent material whatsoever.

This year looks good for CB and WR, and as mentioned is pretty topheavy. After the top 10 talent drops off like crazy. There's going to be alot of reaching for players that aren't really worth the spot they're taken at. And the lineman class as an overall group looks terrible.

I totally agree. If we trade back from #1 (if we get it) I hope we get some picks next year in return:yesnod:

Last years draft was reminiscent of the 04 draft, where we got Gamble, and a ton of All Pros went in the first, and throughout.

This years draft reminds me of the draft of a year after: some nice players, but weak overall. Also, two good players who play positions not really worth the top three overall, went in the two and three respectively lol--Ronnie Brown and Braylon Edwards. Sorta sounds like what could happen this year with Peterson and Green.

One good thing we may have going for us is that the early enrollee Pac-10 QB who SHOULD have went no 1 overall that year is now the best QB in the NFC, so maybe history will somewhat repeat itself...somewhat. Y'know as long as we dont screw up like San Fran and take the overrated running QB who cant throw

    • 100% even if rest of team is really talented if they march young out to be qb and he plays like he has for 90% of his starts the panthers have already lost doesnt even matter how good the rest of the team is or isnt and also makes it hard to even tell how good they are.  They need true competition for young this offseason.
    • It will be awesome to have an improved stadium to lose in I guess....   https://www.yahoo.com/news/panthers-file-rezoning-bank-america-111500840.html     The Carolina Panthers have taken another necessary step toward renovating their home of the present and future. Panthers Stadium, LLC, filed its rezoning site plan with the city of Charlotte on Monday, initiating an important — if mostly technical — step toward renovating Bank of America Stadium. The filings state that the rezoning relates “primarily to technical aspects associated with improvements to Bank of America Stadium,” and that the rezoning is required because “the current stadium zoning is out of date” for the team’s stadium renovation plans.   The planned stadium updates include new seats installed throughout the upper and lower bowls; stadium safety and security enhancements; a reimagined South Lawn Pavilion; upgraded restrooms; exterior enhancements (including LED video boards) and more. Planning for the stadium renovation project will continue through 2025, with construction starting in 2026 and the renovation’s conclusion in 2029, The Observer previously reported.
    • In my dream, we somehow luck into a top 2 pick and someone wants a QB bad and doesn’t want anyone else to jump them. Somehow we’ll probably screw up the picks anyway, but it would be nice to do even partially what Chicago did to us. We’d have to lose out, which is a decent possibility unless Tampa is resting. We need Atlanta to stay within a game because Atlanta beat Tampa twice. The rest of the draft slots are who knows because Jax plays the Raiders and then Tennessee and you never know who will rest starters. I think we are top 7 unless we somehow pull out 2 more wins. The 4 win teams have higher SOS and there is only one 5 win team with the same SOS. If we win 1 of 3, we still should stay in top 7. If we lose out and the Jax games work for us, we can easily be top 3.
