Cam Newton????????

not all underclassmen, but the PAC10 is kind of underrated when it comes to QBs coming out. currently they have these guys starting: sanchez, palmer (had a good run i'd say before injuries), aaron rodgers, matt cassel.

right now the Pac10 has more QBs starting for them than other conferences except for maybe the ACC.

SEC has the manning boys, cutler, and stafford. for such a tough conference, you would think they would have more QBs starting.

Pac-10 actually has six current starters, although the extra one is forgettable (Derek Anderson). You could argue that they would have 7 if Matt Moore was healthy.

Jason Campbell is the only other SEC guy and he's been off and on starting this year.

ACC and Big 10 have 5 currently (Ryan, Vick, Schaub, Hasselbeck, Rivers)

(Brady, Brees, Orton, Henne, and Troy Smith)

Just as recently as the beginning of last year, the knock against Sam Bradford was that there were no starters in the NFL from the Big 12. So I don't buy the whole argument that a guy's conference is the maker of what he will or won't be. By the way, there is a pretty decent QB that came out of Stanford named John Elway.

You might wanna check more game film before u flame...the only questions about luck are his arm strength.

When anyone asks about lucks arm strength the answer that come up is always meh...or its ok

Other than mentioning that he sometimes hangs his deep ball, I've not seen one legitimate source (TV analysts, reporters, scouts take, etc.) say anything other than the fact he can make all the throws with ease. And from watching a few Stanford games, I have seen him make some serious throws (including some great deep throws that he didn't put too much air under). In fact, I've not seen one ball thrown that wasn't made with excellent velocity...heck, I've seen him throw the ball 30+ yards with good zip hitting a well covered receiver while being hit low and not able to step into his throw. So no, arm strength is not a legitimate concern, IMO.

Hold on let me put on my idiot glasses so I can attempt to decipher your gibberish, and I think it's you that needs to watch film

Luck puts excellent velocity on every throw. And he leads the nation in completion percentage at 70% (not cam newton as you tried to state earlier)

you should wear them alittle bit longer because no where was i knocking his completion percentage.

as for completing 3% more passes than cam, that could change between now and the bowl gm. speed, size, throwing power and potential will not.....

Luck has thrown many more passes than Cam Newton and because of Auburn's threat to run the box is constantly loaded on Cam, making it much easier to find open targets on their play actions.

Cam Newton's completion percentage and passer rating are largely inflated due to the offense he runs. He throws less than 20 passes every game. Most of which are short passes that get receivers in space for them to add yards to his stats. Cam is the prototypical quarterback to run that system, but there is question in regards to his translation to the NFL.

Did anyone see Auburn's 2nd TD last weekend against 'Bama? One of the worst throws to ever go for a touchdown.

Could the same could not be said for Luck? his numbers arent bolstered by running a pass first offense in the weaker pac-10?

I'm not saying Cam Newton is more pro ready than Luck, I think the upside with Luck is amazing.

The upside to cam newton tho is the potential to be part The Golden Calf of Bristol, part vick, part josh freeman.

Any credibility you had just went poo out of the window....

Luck doesn't run a pass first offense moron, the offense isn't made to suite his ability like the one newton plays in.

The thing about those qbs you just listed is one is a former first overall pick (a bust none the less 8 games doesn't make you a great qb) one is a future bust and one is a passer with decent mobility more similar to luck that newton.

They certainly aren't afraid to throw the ball down field. They do use the pass and run pretty well together. The difference is, Luck throws pro-routes, Cam doesn't. The pass-first offense can definitely inflate yards and TDs, but if you look at the offensive style and and the types of throws Luck has to make every game, it would seem to transfer better.

if you throw the ball 30 times on the regular i'd say its a pass first offense... u just keep showing ur a simpleton don't you??

@magic i can agree on that.

    • Oh he would absolutely flourish. It’s the panthers way. It’s no different with coaches. Sometimes they reach their expiration date, go somewhere else, and find new success.  Similarly to Burns, how long to wait for the light to finally turn on?  Market forces will demand a salary that the panthers can not responsibly match. Sliding him to guard will fit his skill set better, but he has played LT for 3 years. He will receive offers from other teams wanting to pay him LT money.  At guard, he won’t start with what they have paid Hunt and Lewis. Center then?? Dunno. Maybe? He will become a backup by default once they draft their stud LT. I doubt Dan just stands pat. That’s not his MO.  So where does this put him? Can you match what other teams will offer for a backup LT/guard? Do you dish out franchise LT $ on a guy who still needs significant improvement in pass protection. This team will be DOA in the playoffs with the very first team who has a formidable speed rusher. What if he has hit his ceiling in pass protection already and they sign him long term? It’s a big gamble either way.
    • We're in a great position to see just how big of a misstep it would be, having made so many ourselves
    • I didn't say I would have done it. I was just saying that I can see why some in the FO considered it. Everything was done to give Bryce weapons. Solidify the interior line thru FA. Get XL at WR in round 1 and then get the most talented RB in round 2. Take a TE in round 4, etc They were probably "assuming" he'd make a complete recovery during the 2024 season. I'm a skeptical person. I wouldn't have assumed he'd be ok in 2024. I personally would have taken another position in the 2nd for that very reason. But, if I were "influenced" to take him I would've argued to keep him off the field, especially seeing how things were going for us record wise. Conventional Wisdom says most backs don't get back to normal until two years after the ACL surgery. He was injured in Fall 2023. Having him suit up in 2025 would have been almost 2 years since the original injury. You have him for 3 year on low contract. If he balls out, you resign him for a couple of more years b/c he'd only have 3 years of tread on the tires. If he's ok but not great you let him walk.
