Harbaugh / Luck Question #2

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

I really don't Luck isn't entering the draft...I want to end this now.

If he's a smart as everyone says he is, he'll realize a college degree from Stanford means more than millions of dollars a year early. He'll finish his time at college, then still make his millions.

Not so fast my friend. Which of the following scenarios is more intelligent.

1. Come out in the draft in the "last" year with no rookie payscale....get a monster contract.

2. Stay in school and risk a career endign injury.

3. Stay in school, get that college degree that he will never use....and then sign a rookie payscale deal. Assuming that he has another monster season and remains the consensus #1 pick.

Luck would be crazy not to come out this season.

Or there's just no football next year.

My perspective on Luck is that so many people on here are saying that he is too good to pass up... That may be true

However, let's not forget that he has never played a snap in the NFL so can really determine how good he can be based off of college stats?

I am not saying that we should pass up on Luck, I am just saying that people need to be careful what they wish for.

It's not about college stats, it's about the tools he brings with him from college. From a purely physical standpoint, him and Clausen aren't even close. Then you go to intangibles and again it's not even close. Then add in the fact that we have seen Clausen play snaps in the NFL and we need to immediately look for an upgrade. Combine all that and you draft Luck if you can.

Clausen has played on a 1-10 team that has had problems all over the place. How can you point the finger directly at the QB spot as being the biggest hole?

To clarify, I'm all for drafting Luck if we get the #1 pick. However, rooting for us to lose just to roll dice on him is... well... stupid. Why the Hell would you hope for your team to suffer even more just so you can go grab the next hyped college player? He hasn't taken any NFL snaps, which is apparently the Clausen Cause that only he applies to.

Clausen could absolutely light it up in the remaining games, and most fans would be pissed because we missed out on our next franchise quarterback in the draft.

I'm comparing two players outside of team environments. If you can't see who the better prospect is then you sir are blind. Yes Clausen plays on a bad team, but he has done nothing to help that team get better. Look at something besides stats and tell me why Clausen will be better than Luck.

Some fans would be pissed. Most would be much happier that Clausen has potential. Right now we haven't seen it.

Would you pass on Peyton Manning because you had Chad Henne?

Clausen still has the potential to be good, though he's got a better shot with a WCO team than with a team that runs a conventional offense.

But even Clausen at his potential best isn't equal to what Luck could be.

That's why they can't pass him up if they have the chance.

How many games as potential won? None. Manning went 3-13 his rookie year, according to you they should have bailed after 1 year and have drafted Daunte Culpepper the next year cuz of "potential".

Cmon now everyone who doesn't share Ohio's mancrush on Clausen is stupid and knows nothing about football. Ignore that everyone is saying the same thing about Luck.

Everyone said the same thing about Jimmy last year, what is your point? What is your man-crush on Luck about anyway, shouldnt that be hidden in your closet?

This x 1000. I don't think some of these anti-Luck folks really understand just how good he has the potential to be.

ESPN analyst Ron Jaworski says that Clausen might be the most ready-to-play quarterback in this year's rookie class. And it was Clausen's play in the fourth quarter that won him over.

"He wants the ball in his hands," Jaworski says. "He's LeBron James. He's Michael Jordan. With the game on the line, he wants to make the difference.

"He clearly projects to be an outstanding National Football League quarterback. And I believe he's only scratched the surface."

Ask LeFell and Hardy about that and get back with me. As for a degree from Stanford meaning more than a guarantee of 50 million dollars, doing what??? How many Stanford grads make a million a year?

The much better way to go is to make the millions now and then go back to school to finish the degree when you have no pressure or money concerns.

Ohio you are a clown man, you have to be trolling.

Manning threw 20+ TDs and for over 3,000 yards. Jimmy has 1 and 800 yards and 0 wins.

Big Difference. You could actually see the potential in Manning, Jimmy on the other hand shows nothing.

So Jaws said he is the most ready. Do you think that is true now? DO you think it was pure hype? Make up your own mind. Stop relying on ESPN for your sports opinions and make up your own mind like a grown up.
