Williams wants to stay in Carolina

I hope he doesn't read this forum. Many here are ready to replace him with a guy that had 2 good and 1 decent game that all ended in loses. Amazing....Don't get me wrong, I am happy Goodson is playing well. Did any of you actually watch those games? For 2 of those 3 games the O-line actually opened up holes for him and Stewart to run through. DWill was getting yards earlier in the year out of absolutely nothing. Almost all his gains were cutbacks. For those of you that don't know what a cutback is, it is basically an "oh crap" the middle is clogged so I have to turn on the jets and go outside. Not an easy way to make a living. JStewart found this out the hard way when he got the start and then blamed the OLine.

People here were ready to burn down B of A stadium for all of the free agents we let go this year. Now the best one on our team and one of the best in the NFL is up and you want to let him go because he is 27 for a guy that played good for 2 games and an injury prone power runner?

Were any of you fans back in the Biakabutuka days? He was the second coming of christ to Charlotte and it didn't work out well. I hope Goodson and Stewart work out, but you don't start trading proven elite running backs for rookies.

Williams patiently waited his turn to start in Carolina when he probably deserved to start earlier. The Panthers rewarded him by drafting Stewart in the first round and pretty much slapping DWill in the face. Does DWill pitch a fit or ask to be traded? No, he shows up for work and takes it a step farther by embracing Stewart. Can you name me another running back duo that gets along as well as these two? DWill could have made this miserable for Carolina and Stewart (remember Peppers). Now it is time for him to get paid after everything he has done for us and the consensus here is to trade him for a guy that has 3 decent games. Simply Amazing!!!! Alright, I am off my soap box now...

First of all..let me state that williams is a damn good back, great player/teammate, and i'd like to see him remain a panther.

Now, onto my soapbox.

A cutback run is a designed run, where the linemen block down in one direction, and the back finds a lane to cut back the other direction. Helps to know this when you try to sound like ya know something.

You call stewart injury prone, yet williams has missed more time, and had more injuries. So he must be an accident waiting to happen if stewart is injury prone. Let's not forget we are also talking about the most injured position, shortest career life expectancy of any other position.

If ya going to go off on a soapbox...sound like ya know something, please.

LOL. Sorry I did not include a textbook definition when I mentioned what a cutback is. Go look up the definition yourself. There are designed cutback plays and ones not designed.

I know they are not rookies. You know what I was talking about. Goodson is an unproven young player...is that better? I wasn't putting Goodson and Stewart in the same category. They are under rookie contracts.

Goodson is unproven? Please stop posting.

Goodson has proven to be a good return man, proven receiver out of the backfield.

Oh, and has proven he can carry the load as a starting running back.

No, he hasn't done it for a full season, but he has proven more than you are giving him credit for.

I'm not saying we should get rid of d.williams....but you are talking out of your ass in this thread.

The Panthers will unlikely be able to keep both DWill and Stewart once both are up for their big pay day.

The decision they must make is which one is the long-term answer.

If it is DWill, we can keep Stewart and DWill for another season...then let Stew go (via trade).

If it is Stew, DWill will walk after this season.

A cut back is NOT necessarily a designed play. What you described is a misdirection play.

"A cutback in football generally refers to a move a running back makes when a run play is designed to go one way but the back sees opportunity for gain elsewhere. Certain plays are designed to create this type of opportunity, particularly those where the offensive linemen zone block (step in the same direction initially, blocking the first defender), or during a stretch play."

So, it is you that wants to sound like ya know something.....make sure you know what the f**k you are talking about before correcting another poster.

Weak sauce.

Thanks for ignoring the rest of the post.

If you read the prior 10 pages of posts you would see this had been debated at length. I stand corrected, Goodson is proven after 2 good games and one decent. Again, if you read the prior 10 pages people are not talking about his return skills, they are talking about him as a running back. He is about as proven as Matt Moore was at the end of last season. I am pulling for Goodson and I hope he turns out to be an elite back. However, I am not so quick to anoint as many do on this site after a couple games.

It is sad that this forum has turned into a bash site. It use to be all about Panther football now people just want to get others riled up.

oh man, if one of your franchise players is a RB you have a poorly run franchise

try arguing the points I actually made instead of putting words in my mouth

And your little paragraph about the Steelers philosophy totally goes against your point of resigning a replaceable player and contradicts your entire argument, BTW

That settles it. Our fans are dumber than Cowboys fans.
