Williams wants to stay in Carolina

I'm not arguing who is the better back, snake fist. the Bolts still have a running game without LT, which is exactly my point. You don't need an elite back to have a good running game, running backs are easy to find, and we have a bunch of solid backs. Our running game wont just disappear without Williams.

34 jerseys will be rendered kind of useless if Deangelo is gone, which is what I still think is peoples main reason for not wanting him to leave. Those things ain't cheap.

Haven't you heard? It's out with the proven players and in with the inexperienced! Who needs a Top 5 NFL RB when you have Mike Goodson? Heck, Goodson proved his skill in 3 games! WOWWW!!!! So he's obviously better than Williams, right?

And what if we get rid of Stewart? Woohoo! Then we have two RB's of the same skill set! Who needs a change of pace RB? We can ether have 2 cut back runners or 1 Bruiser & 1 Cut back Runner.

HEY EVERYONE! LETS THROW OUR BEST PLAYER UNDER THE BUS!

Idiots... Incase you didn't understand the post, it was sarcasm. We have Sutton. You can find a 3rd string RB anywhere, but you can't find another D-Will. If you are ready to get rid of a Top 5 NFL back after Goodson had 2 good games and 1 decent one, then you are an idiot. Keep the best tandem in the league and bring in a vet 3rd stringer if that's the case. But at this point only Williams is a FA at the RB position, so we can keep all 3 backs next season if our new coach isn't a dumb sh*t.

You miss the point. The bolts have to rely on there pass game and so do GB cause of the RB situation. Dwill is our best back and to lose him would hurt the panthers in a place that they actually are good at. We cant lean on our pass game so we have to have high production somewhere. Also a great back is a Rookie QBs best friend. He takes the load off and makes sure people dont blind side him while passing.

The bolts are STILL getting good production out of their running game; it doesn't make a difference whether or not a household name is running the ball for them. You don't need ONE elite guy to be able to run the ball. And those teams have the two best young QBs in football so obviously theyd throw the ball around. I sort of think its debatable as to whether a good TE, which we need, is really a QBs best friend, but nevermind.

I will state again that I am in favor of letting Williams go in the event that the team is assured of having the number one pick and Luck comes out, and Jerry plans on spending some of that absurd money on offensive improvement. But if Luck doesnt enter the draft or we win too much, then pay Deangelo, Goodson, AND Stewart since they'll be all we have going for us on offense with jimmy at the helm.

I guess its all in your definition of production. If avg is ok then yes they are productive but if its not then No they are not. The fact is both teams would be better with a better run game. The 05 Panthers were good but not great because they had no run game. The Saints won a SB because they could run and pass the ball. So did the Steelers and Patriots. Also thats why ATL is doing so well this year. Not only do they have an air attack but they have a Feature back in Turner. Who SD also let go of BTW.

I understand your reasoning but I just like to point out that all the teams that have followed that philosophy have been punished by it.

Tolbert rushing for 100+ yards is average? And we have much more depth at the position than green bay does, which is the only reason I would consider letting Williams go. If we only had Brandon Jackson and a fullback there to take his place like they do then no, I would not be of this opinion.

there's also a significant distinction between a guy who can play despite his injuries and a guy who cannot.

Apples/oranges, DeAngelo has an accute injury - Stewart has been dealing with this nagging achillies issue for a few years now.

Listen, I've got nothing against Stewart but it's ridiculous to argue that he's as good or better than DeAngelo at this point. You can argue that it makes more sense to trade DeAngelo because of age or money, but not because Stewart is a better HB, that's just silly.
