Does Jake have tunnel vision?

Like I've said 2 times in this thread already.

Throwing to Smitty isn't considered tunnel vision... It's the fact he picks out his recievers before the play is even started and he will focus on him until maybe he gets in a brea kin the route and then throws it. Every safety in the league can get an INT off Jake if they just follow his eyes, he will barely ever look off a guy.

Maybe thats why the Cardinals got some many INTs, because they realized how much of a dope he was to never read the field. Sticks on one guy until he is somewhat open and throws it. Or in case of the Cardinals game, throws it regardless if they are open or not.

Jake Delhomme is an average at best NFL quarter-back who happens to be our best option for right now. I just hope that we do find another successor at the QB position before the wheels fall completely off at that position. We have to find someone who is going to take his place just like we have to find someone to replace Julius Peppers THIS OFFSEASON, not next season. Tunnel vision or not Jake has to be replaced, along with a few others if this team wants a shot at winning a Super-bowl. It is what it is; famous quote from John ******* Fox.

When he drops back he has to look off the coverage in order to help his guys get open. He locks down sometimes and that's why the coverage is there a lot of the time. I get what you're saying. Cards DBs always seemed to be where the ball was going to go, wherever it was, it looked like there were 3 of them to defend one guy. They played zone but they played it like a defense is supposed to.

When Jake has a bad day against zone defense it's usually a disaster.

Just because you imagine it to be so doesn't make it so. If he was as bad as you say, his latest game would have been a norm rather than an aberration. The simple fact is, he spreads the ball around in our offense, and hits his best receiver often but not too often.

Dude, he had a 5 interception game, a 4 interception game, and a 3 interception game, in one season. That was the only QB in the league to have 3 games like that.

Hell if I know, but he spreads the ball around a lot better than people here give him credit for doing. He threw a lot more INTs this year than he normally does, but for the most part he did a great job coming back from his surgery. There are a few QBs around that I would rather have, but not too terribly many.

I've never said he was a top 10 QB, but he's certainly starter material and would probably land the top job for half the teams in the league.

A lot of them did, but a lot of them threw them at a higher rate as well. But this isn't about INTs unless you just want to bash Jake. The point is, he's distributing the ball a lot better than you give him credit for doing.

Other top QBs, or particularly those who make top QB money, do not make the ill-advised decisions that Jake makes when zeroing in on a covered target while other options have a better probability of actually making the catch (and mitigating Jake's mistakes). Moreover, no one is ever going to mistake Jake for Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, or even Ben Roethlisberger. They might mistake him for an aged Brett Favre (minus a ring) if that makes you feel better.

And to throw Roethlisberger in there? Do you know how many people have been making the "yes but he's a leader and a winner and we're going to the Super Bowl" argument to his numerous critics this season? Sound familiar?

Go to other team's message boards and you'll find the vast majority of teams with a quarterback not named (Peyton) Manning have their fair share of armchair critics. This is why I'm always telling people to watch other teams to get perspective.

Fans always think the grass is greener elsewhere. Geez, how many of our own fans thought David Carr was a great QB who'd just been on a bad team :nonod:

It helps to take a look at who our third receiver is (are) and who our tight ends are. We haven't had a legit three deep corps since 2003. Some years it's barely been two deep.
