jake is a 34 year old vetaran....i dont think a new QB coach will make that much diff in his playing style..he still will lock on to smith

if anything the new QB coach will help matt moore

I don't think it will be about changing the way he plays as much as getting him to change his tendencies and to correct some of the bad habits that have creeped in, due to a QB coach that didn't coach.

One thing that jumped out at me when I did this. When we threw to the backs the average yards per catch were 5.1. Our average run was about that. So, there's no advantage to throwing to the backs aside from misdirection, and in a way it's worse because they only catch 3 out fo 5 attempts. So when we run it, we get about 5 yards. When we pass it to a back, we only average about 3 yards.

Stats don't lie but a check down to a back for 5 yards is preferable to me rather than throwing into double coverage. More throws to the backs has to lead to more YPC as well. Three ck down passes at the right time against AZ might have had us in that game.

He was signed by the Broncos and went to training camp with them. He lasted two games, in which he saw limited, if any, action, and was traded away to Seattle, who then dumped him off on Detroit.

All I really meant was to point out that we got more yards using our backs as runners than receivers. That hasn't been the case for us in the past, particularly when we were running Foster behind Wahle.

Exactly he lasted two games where he did not see any action. No stats for Colbert with the Broncos. So he technically did not play for them he was on there team. He was then traded to Seattle, then left for dead in Detroit.

He played for them in pre-season, check the stats. If he couldn't make it on the field in the first two games, it's not because he wasn't on the active roster. If he did and didn't get a ball thrown to him, well that's the Keary we all know and love.

My biggest problem with Jake is that he doesn't take what the defense gives him. Jake has, for many years now, consistantly missed wide open targets. In the Arizona game, Stewart was wide open 5 yards out on the right side of the field. Jake kept looking left at covered recievers. I wanted to reach through the tv screen and force Jakes head to look right. Stewart, rather than standing there wide open, decided to go deep... a defender was waiting. In the Gaints game Stewart was wide open to the right about 6 or 7 yards out, Jake kept looking left. Stewart decided to go deep rather than stand there. Jake, to my amazement, turned to his right and threw the ball where Stewart was earlier. Jake didn't even take a second to look and see if Stewart was still there. The ball was easily intercepted. When Jake came back to the sideline, he asked the QB coach something like "HOW DID THEY GET THE BALL? I THREW IT TO STEWART!" McCoy "Stewart moved." Jake "AWWWWW WHY DID HE MOVE? HE WAS WIDE OPEN!" The sad part is that Jake seems surprized when Stewart does what he has been doing all season. He runs his route. Jake doesn't look at him. Then Stewart starts to extend his route. This seems to amaze Jake every time.

I remember a few years back when we had this big fat black TE. He would run his route, get wide f*cking open, and then he would start waving his arms around. Jake never saw him. So finally on this one play, the TE is open again, Jake doesn't see him and he throws the ball away. The TE starts jumping up and down. He starts going nutts. He starts shouting to other players "I WAS WIDE OPEN WTF!" Jake hears him and runs over and says something like "HEY CUT THAT sh*t OUT WE DON'T NEED THAT BULLsh*t" The TE looked like he just saw a ghost. Then he just slumped over and walked to the bench.

I don't think Jake is a bad QB. I just don't know how we're going to get back to the SB with him. Maybe lightning can strike twice.

I believe you mean Michael Gaines. I'm not sure who he plays for now, maybe da bears?
