War Story...

my wife's uncle was in NAM- he doesnt talk about it at all.. all they know is he crashed in a helicopter that only he and one other guy survived.

so my in-laws are out in Iowa and get lost on some country road and stop to get gas.. they ask a random black guy for directions- they get to chatting about other stuff and exchange names "Sorensen" is my in-laws last name.. the black guy asks my father in law if he knows "Whitey Sorensen"- who happens to be his brother, they were the 2 that crashed in the plane and survived.. so he helps drive them to wherever they need to go and when they finally get to meet with his brother, he tells him the whole story and my wife's uncle barely acknowledges it.. just a simple "yep" was all he said i guess..

Only WWII story my Father ever told me was that he lived with a Filipino family when he was stationed there (After MacArthur landed again.) They did his laundry and he did their daughter!

That's probably why he never wanted to go back There. He was afraid that some kid would come up to him and say, "DADDY!" :eek:

I could tell you my war stories, but I lived through it once. Not really looking to do it again.
