It's cyclical. Historicaly speaking, the NFC West has a top 3 franchise (49ers), a top 10 franchise (Rams), and two teams that have made the Super Bowl in the past six years (Cards and Seahawks).

Meanwhile, the NFC South has four teams that are sub-.500, all time.

And here's what's funny...Rams pull off one Arizona/Carolina type upset, and they could HOST a championship game. They'd have to win the first round game, too. Won't happen, but the fact that it can is scary.
