Carolina Crazy V2

Most everyone is for it. Except, of course, first-round rookies and their agents.

Upshaw was very against it. Anyone remember when Kevin Mawae accidently commented that he found it discouraging that some rookies came in with the contracts they did. The next day he retracted what he said and Upshaw came out saying the rookies deserve every penny considering how much the teams earn and the average length of an nfl career.

Would be interesting to see how the NFL players association feels on it now.

accually, i think that peppers and his agent planned this awhile ago. the thinking is that they think he will be franchised this year, and will get to sign for hundreds of millions of dollars to the highest bidder in 2010. thats the first thing i thought anyway. i wonder if there are other players who aligned themselves up for a potentially huge payday. of course i dont blame them, pretty smart IMO.

Except that Pep never said he wanted to be franchised. He said he wanted out of Carolina and would like it if they would let him just straight leave. If it was about the money then we were going to give him a contract close to anything he was going to get on the FA market even in an uncapped year. Especially for a 31 y/o wanting to play in a new position.
