Should we keep Meeks

it is if we get a HC that values a blitzing defense with press man to man coverage and abandons this zone poo

Yep, the best defense is the one that's the most entertaining for viewers, right? I mean, the fact that we've played pretty good defense all year with this "zone poo" doesn't mean anything..

moving to a 3-4 is a very drastic, potentially messy move that usually takes a lot of time to work out. Unless you've got a 3-4 guy who knows his stuff like Capers did with Green Bay, it doesn't yield results immediately. I don't think Richardson is that drastic that he thinks he needs to make that change, but if he is, I hope he handles it with poise and a calculated plan of action to make it work out

personally I actually prefer a 3-4, but I think the team would be better off to stay with the base defense they have now, especially when our centerpiece is more of a 4-3 linebacker.

agreed. i would say that the strongest point of this offense is the LB corps. imo, you build a defense around that, regardless of whether you prefer a 3-4 or whatever. i don't know if davis will come back strong or not, but more than likely he will be coming back.

beason, davis, anderson, connor....all of these guys are worth building around. they all fit the 4-3 so that is what we should do.

however, it needs to be a very aggressive 4-3 rather than the bed but don't break style that fox prefers and that keeps the team on the field forever.

lot's of people make a big deal about the offense not being able to stay on the field and not scoring early/often enough. the defense has had some massive problems on it's own. they can't get off the field and you can't blame it on not getting a rest. they start off the games like that and stay like that. they have only to blame themselves. any times they managed to get off the field quickly in the first part of the game has to do with them letting the other team score quickly. how many points have been given up in the first quarter or first half the past few weeks? that isn't the offenses fault. the bend, don't break model is broken.

Agree, our defensive scheme is dependant on getting consistent pressure from the front 4 and we haven't been doing that. When our defense was at it's best we had a stud defensive line (Peppers, Jenkins, Buckner and Rucker) that could generate allot of pressure by themselves.

At this point, we seem to be stuck between two defensive schemes - Meeks "swarm the ball" and Fox's "stuff the run". I thought Meeks was an odd fit for Fox when they brought him here, makes me wonder if that was Fox's decision or an attempt to lure Dungy out of retirement when Fox's contract expired?

We'd also need players to match..

Do YOU wanna see Marshall on an island covering Andre Johnson?

With the only "help" being Godfrey?

Gamble Island, Marshall Island, I dont think it matters with Andre, he will whip either one of them like he did that cabbage patch kid

Yeah, our defense is set up for man coverage, strickly zone. A soft zone at that, our zone hesitates before it closes in. Since we are in zone, they should be eyeing the QB and break on the ball like Cap did. We need more of this. If the offense can't win it, then we should win it on d. Enough of this bout how tired they are, they practice just like the O does and should be excited bout going back on the field to crack some heads...... w/o a penalty, lol
