What have the last 5 Super Bowl champs had in common?

Pats, Steelers, Giants, Colts.

All but colts have a really good D.

The Colts have an opportunistic D, and the best regular season QB to play the game.

I can tell some things it's not.

It's not the 3-4 (Colts ran Dungy's Cover 2 scheme).

It's not 1st round QBs (Brady was a 6th rounder).

It's not the AFC (Giants).

Pretty sure we haven't played - or beaten - all of them that year or the following year.

Having a dominant D-Line or at least one star DL comes to mind as a possible, but I don't know if that's what's being looked for.

Giants...wild card, wore white jerseys

Colts...wild card, wore white jerseys

Steelers....wild card, wore white jerseys

Patriots....wore white jerseys

Hmmm....I can only guess based on Pstall's clue that each of the last five to win was the higher ranked defense of the two teams in the SB

Defensive minded head coaches.

Coughlin actually was an offensive coach his whole NFL career I believe.

I would say all their staffs lost people or had them interviewing with other teams for promotions but I don't think that applies to the Colts. It is interesting that no one seems to want coaches from the Colts since they have been consistently competitive for years (though I believe Tom Moore has no interest in leaving or being a HC much as Kiffin felt until his son came calling).
