also doesn't help we don't have a good TE and stuff. The running game was working which definitely helped Clausen. In any offense a good running game is always a QB's 2nd best friend, behind a playmaking every down dependable receiver, of course.

I don't think we need to give up on Clausen yet, but at the same time, if we can draft Luck, I say get him! With an 18 game season, and the way QB's are going down like flies now, he still could get playing time, even as a backup to Luck. Treat this years draft like a big "dud", and get the QB that everyone knows will be great. It starts there. Davidson should be gone, so hopefully we will get a OC that gets it and knows how to use a QB!

Making long term predictions on Clausen in any direction is pure speculation. Fans need a little more resiliency. I'm going to stick behind Clausen before I start putting the franchise on a kid that hasn't even declared for the draft.

Due to Clausen's cautious nature he's walking on a fine line between sucking and beasting. He NEEDS to start making some more aggressive throws or the offense will indefinitely be anemic. The sack of excuses is almost empty.

But Jimmy Clausen has not proved anything, he has enough starts now to have developed and matured somewhat. Even in college, Jimmy was overhyped as being ND's quaterback (much like Brady Quinn). I wanted the Clausen pick to work out, but it clearly has not and will not. Sure he is working with a lame duck coach and a terrible O-line... but I've seen good QBs manage much better with the same.

Clausen is average at best, but may someday develop into a decent QB. But he is NOT going to be our franchise QB, he doesn't possess the aptitude. If our team passed on Luck next year, it might be one of the worst decisions of any NFL team during a pivotal draft year.

Jimmy doesn't deserve hate or praise, he deserves to go to a different team.

the announcers called the game right. clausen made plays, got banged up way too much, still a rookie.

yes he is still hesitant to throw downfield but think about it... he's got rookie receivers who are still learning how to acheive separation and one great receiver that is perpetually double teamed. if he was throwing to TO and Ocho I would get more upset about Clausen playing it safe. but these receivers are just not getting separation as pointed out by the announcers and the offensive line (and goodsen blocking) isn't giving jimmy enough time.

this isn't an excuse for losing. but what you are seeing is slow progress by all of the rookies. sooner or later the progress will collectively start paying off. should have been a win today, it will happen soon.

You must have been listening to 1110 radio. Those sapps droll on and on about clausen, how he is a rookie and give him time and he did such a wonderful job. Could tell you what they are going to say before the game. They are biased as hell. Even called in a couple of times and they cut the caller off and speak over them to tell people how wonderful clausen is. They know where their pay checks are coming from.

And by the way clausen sucks. The 610 announcer said he had 28 throws....ten of them laterals to Goodsen, and only 4 downfield, FOUR.....four downfield. The last one was a short pass to the general area, he was lucky the receiver could reach it, wasn't thrown to him directly. By the way, did i mention, clausen sucks.

I see other rookies step out and look ready and prepared to make a play. Clausen looks like he's going through motions that he's not prepared to carry out.

I don't think confidence is an issue. He's got plenty of that. At issue right now is whether it's misplaced.

It's valid that he can be a little too careful with his throws, though.

Pick Luck if we can, but we can't draft him now. Saying Clausen isn't improving so he sucks is wrong. He just isn't improving fast enough for a lot of us, and he isn't winning games.

But... all of you guys who hate him and really want Luck... Shouldn't you be rooting for him to keep playing like he is so we do get Luck?
