Oh, and Clausen's play screams WCO QB. If we're going to leave him at starter next year, we're going to have to change up.

this, this, this.

no matter what you think of Clausen's play, I think we can all agree our system is NOT playing to his strengths.

Goodson is a perfect WCO back, too. I dunno. seems silly... The offense looked more WCO-like last week, and we go back to traditional "run run pass" this week. =|

i have no idea, dont watch college untill bowl games. leinart was just an example of fail lol. im also not convinced QB is the biggest need on this team, so it makes the question kinda pointless.

i know im already getting tired of luck being deemed the saviour of the franchise when he hasnt even declared yet. im also in the school of thought that #1 picks are overrated and better dealt for more picks and less chance of a bust.

The consensus top four are: Luck, Mallett, Newton and Locker (assuming they all declare).

Obviously Luck is the saviour of the universe, but the other three all have big issues.

The same "reasonable" fans that are cheering for losses but then pointing enraged fingers at whomever they can to place blame for losing?

Yeah I noticed that also.

"Oh golly gee I hope we lose, god I hope we lose"

"Rabble rabble rabble clausen sucks, waaaaaaa"

You don't have to have a cannon arm for this offense but you have to know when to throw down field. I think Clausen can do it but he has to get over this "playing it safe".

Playing it safe is part of Fox's game plan. You can probably guess that Fox and company are telling him or at least trying to sway him into playing it safe all game rather than trying to be explosive.

Well if you don't even watch college football, then why are you calling out other fans who do?

Anyway, I'm not saying that anybody is a savior and I'm not saying we have to, or that we will, draft a QB, but if we do, Luck is the best of the bunch right now. Now whether this is a pointless argument or not, is another matter, but I didn't bring it up in the first place. I gave my opinion just like you did.

There's a difference between safe and training wheels safe. Half his pass attempts are within 5 yards of the LOS. Hell, maybe more than half. It's pretty pathetic that a RB had as many receptions as everyone else on the team combined. He doesn't give anyone time to complete a route, even when he has time to look down field. Even a rookie should be able to attempt more than 1 pass a game down field and more than 2 or 3 mid range attempts. I don't care if he did a little better stat wise this game, I'm not seeing any progress in him running the offense when he still resorts to check downs almost all the time.

if kasay didnt choke, we would have won and Clausen played a big role in us having a chance.

Dude, Clausen did NOTHING that entire game. Zero. Nada. He was horrible. Him hitting one pass to LaFell doesn't mean Jimmy did anything. When you send your kicker out 80 times in a game to hit 40 yarders he is going to miss some.

Once again, Jimmy was asked to provide some offense. He didn't. Another good day from the run game and a D that gave him some chances. Jimmy did nothing.

Fox's offense requires two things. Hand it off and look downfield for the pass. That is a play action offense. Clausen isn't doing that. That is why when Clausen is in a game we get nothing going in the pass game. It was he hasn't gotten a WR or TE into the endzone or even close to it.

i am unsure if jimmy has the arm to throw downfield accurately. that may be why he checks it down so often. i really wanted him to be better than what i am seeing. is it the oline? is it the recievers? who knows. he isn't even close to the quality of bradford and heck, i'd rather have The Golden Calf of Bristol at this point.

I"m telling you, this is an extremely hard offense to run for a young QB. His job is to read long to short, which takes longer and gives the defense more opportunities for sacks. They need to be giving him more short safe designed passes, at least early in the game, to get him in a rhythm and get a little confidence. That would help the O-line out as well.
