If you have already made a judgement one way or the other on Clausen, you're wrong. The truth is that none of us have any idea what kind of QB he will be yet. You're all arguing over nothing, which is why so many regulars have stayed away from this board lately.
meh...only big argument is has/will clausen do enough to warrant us not drafting luck.

I don't hate Clausen...he will be a GOOD QB in this league someday

Luck will be a GREAT QB IMO

That's the difference between Eli Manning and his brother Peyton

It'll be interesting to see who Stanford play in the bowl game. If they get a ranked team, I'll then start judging Luck. So far his schedule has been piss poor.

he sucks if the panthers dont draft luck enjoy being the lions

wasn't one of the Lions problems that they really missed on some early drafts of offensive players in the first round? haven't they drafted two "sure fire franchise" qbs in recent history? they're still not that great, even if they are better.

luck is no guarantee we don't end up in the cellar.

have you ever heard andrew luck speak?

sometimes you need to get to know the person. andrew luck is not a leader. he is sheltered stanford kid who has zero experience facing adversity. he's played one team currently ranked this season (oregon) and was beaten quite badly. i expect him to get beaten even more badly against wisconsin in the rose bowl.

one thing luck has going for him, like bradford, is size and strength. i won't deny he's got those attributes on clausen. but he is an indulgence right now, nothing more. he's hope. unfortunately hope is not a strategy.

i find it crazy to think with the number of rookies already on this team that the panther's new coach would not go after a veteran at qb. sure draft luck if you really want to start over, he's a top prospect, but the impact a vet could make (either to start or develop clausen) is much higher.

i have heard him speak and he sound slike a kid in interviews.it's the stuff with the team that he does with the team that everyone is saying he's off the charts. i don't care about how they look in interviews. we don't pick QBs because they are pretty or eleoquent in an interview. i don't care how clumsy he is with his wording when reporters are talking to him (because that is something that takes a bit of getting used to). everything that people say who has knowledge baout luck will tell you there ins't a thing to complain about regarding his leadership skills.

btw...i do think we need to get a vet QB in here to help with development if the young QB whoever it is. that has nothing to do with drafting or not drafting luck.

if you are looking for a vet QB to come in and start, you're going to be disappointed. there is no one who will be available that will be worth a starting job. if it's a choice between trading for a start-worthy QB or drafting luck...i'm going to go with drafting luck because if the QB is worth building an offense around, we are going to have to give up way more than an early first round pick.

Luck's not the only player that could potentially be added to this team next year. I don't get why people blind themselves from this fact. Who's to say we don't trade for/sign/draft better players for our o-line and WR under a new hopefully offensive minded coach? So, if we get Luck, its not he's gonna have the same crap Jimmy has to deal with.

And regardless of Jimmy's potential, he is regressing with the current regime. Its only gonna take him longer to readjust and I want a QB the new coach will feel comfortable with. That's pretty much it for me.

edit, example: After a few screens and dump downs worked today, Davidson decided to shove that 100% into the gameplan, thus directly affecting how our rookie Clausen thinks about in-game adjustments and reading the field.

Why do you think he is regressing?

I think his last two starts have easily been his best of the season. This last game was good enough to get us a win but we just didn't pull it through. He has some issues, but he has dealt with many of them, including the fumbling issues and tipped balls... Now we just need to get him some protection to see what he can do with his feet under him!
