JOAT....you were RIGHT!

Hand hurt like hell this morning. Went to urgent care when they opened (10am). Doc scolded me a bit for not going to ER last night. Said hand wounds do not have good blood supply...can't stitch after 6-7 hours. Other lacerations, such as head area...can wait longer.

So, he numbed my thumb up....the shots were painful! Said harder to numb because it was infected. :( So he cleaned it, scrapped it out, clipped skin, etc. Luckily the painful numbing shots made sure I did not feel it. He said he did not think my tendon was lacerated but it could be. So referred me to an orthopedist (to see Tues). :( Also got a tetanus shot....had one about 5 yrs ago, but did not know exactly. And got an antibiotic injection and Rx.

Could not even make a fist with my 4 fingers this morning but that has improved...can tell swelling except in thumb is down.

So lessons here are:

**Never use a knife when you could use scissors.

**Listen to JOAT. :)

You have me mixed up with LIAG.

I make the best sammiches. :D

I cut my thumb from the tip to the joint, with a box cutter years ago. It bled like a summabitch. I didn't have anything to stop the bleeding except for my clothes. I wrapped my shirt around it best I could until I got to the hospital. When I got there they thought I was badly wounded because of all the blood on my shirt. Then they realized it was only my thumb bleeding. I ended up getting 8 stitches.

The thing about deep cuts on the thumb is that you're very likely to cut ligaments. I would go just for that risk alone.

Good call, except it was a tendon. "Might" have nicked it. But the hand feels so much better after the shot of antibiotics. Prolly not but a close call. Got to follow up anyway. :(

Find someone that makes Kagen water and get the run-off which is acid water. It is the BEST natural antibiotic. My mom had kidney cancer and a kidney removed about 6 weeks ago. Her incision got NASTY infected, as in the size (depth and width) of a golf ball. The doc and home health nurses were very concerned that it wasn't healing well and the antibiotics weren't working. I took her to my herbalist and she started taking them about 10 days before her last doc appt and he and her friend who had been changing the dressing couldn't believe the results. She won't admit the results but she'd seen her doc a week earlier and her friend had dressed it on Sunday and saw it on Wednesday. Neither could believe the progress.

When you go to the doc, get a supply of Altabax to keep on hand as well. It's a ton better than Neosporin. Saved my face from scarring 2 years ago when I broke my face after the Wachovia Championship. It was a nasty injury that I really thought would leave a bad scar.
