Well really its one of the knocks on him i have heard but I'm repeating something I read. Rarely dose anyone talk about his knocks anymore to be honest. So that was the first thing I looked for when we started to talk about Luck.

no. many lose games.

the good ones show promise. flashes of brilliance

especially at the end of their first season.

Claüsen is on notice. His career is nearing an end in 6-5-4-3-2-.......

Hyperbole much? He's a rookie QB that's started 4 games on a terrible team (mainly due to coaching). He's what, 22? You think his career in the NFL is over if he doesn't light it up over the next 7 games?

Really?

bottom line is you could have put in an a decent QB into this lineup and they easily would have more wins. Cincy, Chicago, NYG, etc........as bad as Fox and his staff are (and they deserve tons of blame). The players still have to play and they have done a horrible job at the QB spot.

Did you just really put Chicago (7-3) and NYG (6-4) in the same sentence as Cincy (2-9)? for what reason? I mean, do you think our team is even close to the first two in any respect??

I do not see any QB 'easily' winning more games for us up to this point (though I would agree, having a good QB would even this season out to being better than 1-15 in the end - but I think we can still do better than that). This team is absolutely terrible. You've said that the Browns & Rams (who each have an 800 yard runner btw) have worse supporting casts than the Panthers. Ok, by what metric?? Name recognition amongst Carolina fans? Sure, our offense looked loaded with talent at the outset, but it didn't turn out that way. Injuries, playcalling, have doomed this team and any QB who played for us. Both those teams have better o-lines right now, better running backs, and while I personally feel our rookie WRs have been a bright spot, it's the only place IMO we are ahead of them at all, if you can even say that.

Want proof that it isn't just QB? Even on a day when we had what I think was great quarterback play (300 yards, 2 tds), we BARELY beat San Fran. Did we win? Yes, but even with a great QB day we struggled in other phases.

Good QB play would obviously improve this team, but to think it's the miracle cure to a bunch of wins is incorrect.

there aren't many knocks on him at all other than "he doesn't play against awesome competition".

i hear a couple things about a little bit of an awkward release and some knock him down because he doesn't have "elite arm strength" and sometimes he doesn't throw the tightest spiral, but those last couple things were also criticisms of manning, brady, and ryan....more it just has to do with people reaching in trying to find flaws. he can make all the right throws, put it exactly where he wants/needs the ball to go, he makes incredible decisions, plays in a pro offense, incredibly smart, good guy on and off the field, isn't a head case, solid leadership skills, completely poised, coachable...the dude just has what it takes to win. he's about as safe an option as you can have.

I had always thought the only issues with Clausen coming out were the same "lack of elite arm strength but good enough for all NFL throws" and the questions about his leadership ability.

so I am hesitant to believe too much of the hype about luck, but I agree we gotta take him if he's there and we have the chance.

Personally I still believe Moore or Clausen can still be the guy. Both of them have had poo to work with on the offensive line. Moore had the pressure of Clausen and the fans. Now Clausen has the pressure of fighting off a #1 QB selection. We haven't seen the best of these guys imo.

If Luck is there and hes as good as advertised then I guess you take him. But if we do that then I think we would have to trade a player to get back into the early rounds to fill positions of need. If we stick with the poo we have at DT we will get run over all season again. Maybe tag and trade Deangelo or Conner. I just feel that picking Luck will hurt us at other positions.

With a top 5 pick we have a prime opportunity to trade down and beef up our team. Pick up a talented #2 CB, a future tackle, a DT, hell maybe AJ Green.

He has one of the best O-lines in the country - which, if we sign Harbaugh is a positive 'cos clearly he believes in establishing a dominant O-line.

That's the biggest worry for me though about Luck. He has a very good rushing attack AND all day to throw.

QB is a position of need. it's our greatest one and we don't have have it resolved. it is THE most important position there is. it is the thing we have been lacking for many years and, considering who we are going to be facing for many more years, is something that we have to have settled.

i really can't believe the hesitancy of people to draft the best QB coming out of the draft this year who happens to be the best QB that many experts have seen in years.

we have become so used to mediocre at best QB play that the bar is set incredibly low. we look at moore and clausen and say..."ehhh....they could be pretty good. we should stick with them and hope that they don't suck. who here has confidence that either of these guys will be elite QBs? if you do think that, then how in the world did you come to that conclusion? what have you seen this year that wold lead you to believe that. the only thing that clausen and moore defenders can say is, "well, with this team anyone would suck." great selling point.

for those of you that don't think this team needs a stud QB....what NFL are you watching? have you seriously seen the teams that we are playing? have you seen what is happening to make this more of a passing league? do you want to sit back and hope that an above average rushing game (which many of you think we need to let go of williams or stewart) and a dominant defense can win a ring...or maybe you are just hoping for more of the same that we had under fox.

for those of you who will ask, "what makes you think that luck is going to be a stud QB?" well... are you going to avoid drafting him because there is a chance of failure? you're going to have that with any position you draft that early in the first. every position can bust. so luck has a chance of busting...so what? isn't it worth it to see if we can for once have a QB that we can be proud of and confident in his ability to carry the team to wins rather than one that you hope isn't going to suck this week or that your defense is going to be able to keep in the game?

meh...too many people accepting mediocrity and afraid of taking a chance on someone that could be one of the best QBs to play the game.

i have yet to understand how people continue to evaluate a rookie's performance based on the overall pathetic performance of the team as a whole.

i have yet to understand how people continue to evaluate any player's performance, rookie or vet, based on the overall pathetic performance of the team as a whole.

But at the same time I also fail to see how anyone can state Clausen is the QB of the future considering everything we've seen.

The jury will be out for at least another year, one way or the other.

I have seen thousands of college football games. I even saw Peyton Manning play live at Tennessee. Admittedly, I had never seen Luck play until last night.

Until last night, I was a Clausen supporter. I have NEVER seen a QB throw the ball as well as Luck. IMO, He will be the best QB in the NFL in the next 5 years. I don't care if we have Clausen or not. Cry all you want saying "you have to give him a chance". Doesn't matter.

The team the passes on Luck should fire everyone who approved that decision and ban them from football forever. Clausen may very well turn out to be good. Luck will be the BEST.

Once we get a new offensive theme that allows us to be balanced our Oline shouldnt look so bad and hopefully taking some pressure off the QB. But, we can not afford to pass up Luck if he is there for us. We poo away draft picks, why not take a calculated chance on this kid...

Why can't we keep Clausen, hes prolly cheap on the salary and at the current concussion rate we'll need a few QB's that can play.
