If you keep posting stupid sh**, you keep getting flamed. If you can't handle getting flamed, stop posting stupid sh**. I think what happened was even after the Arizona loss and Jakes extension, alot of posters were flaming those upset about those events because they weren't being positive. Then the flaming kept going back and forth which got bigger and ignited into a forrest fire once the season started and Jake crapped the bed. People were still on Jake's jock and were getting upset at those who weren't up his butt. Some posters who mostly were logical got caught up in the crossfire from time to time. In the end we're left with charcoal bodies and runaways that took shelter elsewhere.

In a nutshell, I think you've summed it up. At one time, if you posted what some people felt was stupid, you would be disagreed with, but not flamed. And if you got flamed others would come to your defense and say "Hey, let him have an opinion, you don't need to go to the personal attacks". In some very contentious threads there was even the concept of manners being employed. But I guess somewhere along the line that became passe, and the internet truth squad descended on the huddle.

In the end, a lot of very knowledgeable fans decided that scorched earth posting wasn't what interested them, and it wasn't what brought them to the huddle. So they just stepped out of the conversation.

The simple fact that people in this very thread are attacking others is indicative of what some are trying to explain. As others pointed out things in 2005 were great, I also felt we lost a great deal of decent posters and quality discussion after the 2008 season. Notice I said AFTER, not during.

Our 12-4 season really seemed to bring a lot of younger posters who feel that its funny to constantly flame or attack others, simply because this person has an opinion away from the norm.

I used to be able to browse this forum once a day and ALWAYS find a thread that was either insightful, entertaining or very amusing. This thread recognises this and people still try and belittle it. Now I can go a week without seeing a thread worth anything.

It's nothing to do with the record. In 2004 we started 1-7 and yet we still had board worth being on.

So people's hate for a few meaningless internet forum posters is stronger than their love for the panthers?

Good riddance.

This forum has absolutely NO love for the Panthers based on the majority of posters.

This is a general jist of what is included in most threads:

*Fox is a disgrace to franchise (despite giving us some very memorable seasons)

*JR is single handily ruining the Carolina's with his allegiance to the NFL (Despite being the only reason Carolina even has an NFL team)

*Hurney is destroying the future of the franchise (despite him having one of the best track records drafting amongst current GMs)

*The players have given up on fox and thus given upon the season and the team (Despite them clearly playing with a TON of heart, just little talent)

Each of those points are valid to an extent, but it's not black and white and people need to realise everything is shades of grey. Some on here react so extremely and then lash out at everything and everyone it's clear they are either still in the hormonal development or just out of it. Frankly most on here act like broken hearted teenagers.

Besides what does ANYTHING that is written in here have to do with love for the Panthers. You boy, are the epitome of what is wrong with a lot of posters on here. you take things out of context, try to make a smart comment to get a rise, then attack attack attack. Have you EVER had a meaningful discussion on here without resorting to inane and 'witty' (in your mind) remarks intended to belittle or embarrass?
