there's a whole lot of Huddle regulars missing from the boards this year

I know even last year I wasn't an everyday "regular" but with moving, a deployment, a divorce, and a shitty Panthers season, not much too talk about. I check the forums every few days because face it, this is where we get 95% of Panthers news, since on a national scale we don't exist.

i was looking at a few threads from this offseason, and from the 2009 regular season, and recognized a whole lot of big name posters that have mysteriously disappearance.

amazing how a poo season sifts all the bandwagoners out of a fanbase... any bets on how many of these guys quietly return when we sign our first major free agent in the spring?

Not sure I agree that it's sifting the fanbase.

When the team is losing, gabbing here isn't as much fun. I doubt it's anything much deeper than that for most.

hmmm... maybe "bandwagon" was the wrong word... not that drastic

it's just interesting to go back even just a year ago and see who was posting. there's a LOT of usernames that suddenly pop back into your memory and you realize how prominent they were... and they've just sort of slowly slid into oblivion. not necessarily an indictment of their fanhood (guys like 'i am god' who jump ship wholesale and latch onto other fanbases give the bunch a bad name) but just an observation on how a garbage season slowly drains the life out of the masses. mintal, alvarez, panthro, cat, AK (lol) cosmogirl, scrum, just to name a few off the top of my head. again, not that any of them have bailed by any means... it's just weird to see such a broad shift in a relatively short period of time.

really makes you wonder how franchises like the browns and lions have such solid numbers on message boards, let alone in seats at the games.

Oh lawd someone is attacking me on the interwebz I need to Cowher in fear!

That's just the sort of self-centered reaction that drove them off in the first place. Do you really think that these adults are all that sensitive? No, every one of them was more than equal to the task of arguing with children. They just realized that it wasn't why they logged in--the Huddle got boring and unfriendly to them. And the attitude behind your response to that being openly aired out is precisely why they left.

If you've been here as long as I have, you know it's a constantly revolving cast. People come and people go. It's the way it has always been. This board is not for everybody, and that has been a constant. Eventually somebody will get pissed at something. It doesn't agree with everyone.

But the same people who poor mouth the board are still lurkers and just can't stay away from the board entirely. Traffic counts don't lie.

I remember when you used to post a LOT. :)
