Personally, I would rather trade down from our spot (can be easier to do this year if they work out a CBA and a rookie payscale) to somewhere in the mid to late first round, recoup or lost second rounder (Armanti Edwards) and maybe get another 3rd or 4th...

We're already staring at two third rounders because of a comp pick for Peppers... Get us a 1st, a second, and three thirds and you're going a long way to fixing our problems on the field... Combine that with a couple FA signings at various places, and we are back in contention...

Yea... I don't know. They have talent, but Carson Plamer is STRAIGHT GARBAGE this year.... I mean he's made Bad Jake type of passes all year. I don't know whats wrong with him because he was a lot better than this.

Doesn't Cincy have a two game lead on us since they have one more win and beat us head-to-head? So for Cincy to get the #1 pick we would have to win 2 more games and Cincy has to lose all of theirs.

I do not understand some of you, if theres anything we should have learned the past couple years its that an ELITE level QB is necessary to win in todays NFL, if Luck is available he will be the pick. clausen at his best will be a serviceable qb, Andrew Luck has to the potential to be a Qb of Manning/brady status.

I understand that school of thought, and it's a valid one.

I side more with the let's be set up for the next 15 years with potential a top NFL QB. I believe we can be competitve without him, and may even be better in the short term with your thoughts. But I think long term Success and consistancy year end and year out you can't pass on a QB like Luck.

I think Jimmy Could be a Matt Hassleback type of player. With a good team around him he can succeed. Won't be the favorites, but can win games... and you will also have bad seasons where the team is missing too many pieces to be a contender.

I think Luck could be atleast a Rivers, Rodgers type of player where every year you know they are going to be a contender because of their QB... and when they have good teams around them a super bowl favorite. A then mayne just maybe one day a Manning, Brady type player.... But that's me getting way too ahead of myself.

The Armanti Edwards trade is border line one of the worst trades in our francise history. Now AE is only a rookie and could prove to be useful with good coaching and the right coaching staff but the simple fact we traded a second rounder for a 3rd rounder is flat out retarded. It doesn't make sense at all and AE probably would have been a 6th round to undrafted FA and we traded for him. Who the hell wants Armanti Edwards? what the hell was our front office thinking? The only thing I can think of is that maybe since app state was soo good and in NC he could bring up some ticket sales for us. I will give AE two more years and then we will know for sure what we have but right now it isn't looking good.

As others have said, he hasn't even declared... Plus, what a way for a new coach to enter... a QB controversy on his hands as soon as he arrives...

Our offensive woes are mainly attributable to horrible playcalling and poor pass protection (and opening of running lanes if you want to go there)...

I'm not a Clausen nut hugger by any means, but I still say he is a better overall pro QB candidate than Bradford is... Put him on a team that knows how to run an offense and give the QB time to actually, you know, throw the ball... Bradford would be just as bad in our current system...
