I just started reading this thread, but I don't need to read any further as this is the thread-ender. Spot on, SLJ. It is the Patriots modus operandi and it is showing to be the winning way.

That being said, if Harbaugh is on board, you have to believe that he'd want to get his guy.

it's easy to say it works for the patriots. they have an amazing coach and a franchise quarterback. what do they need an early first rounder (which they dont usually have anyway aside from trades) for?

right there is the deal. they have luxuries that we do not. they stumbled upon and lucked out on brady. are we supposed to keep wondering around in the dark hoping that some day we'll luck out and find our dream QB? that's absurd.

we don't have a franchise QB. we have one that we hope might turn into one at some point in the right system if our next HC feels like he can work with him. lot's of ifs there. or...we could draft our own tom brady or peyton manning and then build from there.

maybe at some point down the road we can get to that point but i don't trust this organization to find a tom brady in the 6th, a drew brees all of the sudden wandering around in FA land, or a kurt warner out of a grocery store.

you want an elite talent at QB, you have to go to the place where you are most likely going to find one. in the first round.

Better be safe than sorry.

Yeah, that time the Patriots went 1-15 and traded down from the #1 pick overall worked out great for them.
