If Pike had started, and turned in the exact same performance as St. Pierre, wouldn't a lot of you be overlooking the two bad passes at the end and praise him as our QB of the future?

Praise him? No, I would overlook the one long pass and say that type QB play doesn't give a team a chance. Ravens gave up the long ball b/c every other pass was an ineffective two yard dump off.

The ball came out faster and more decisively yesterday than it has from either Pike or Clausen. Hell it takes more reps for a college spread O QB just to learn how to take a snap from center than our 2 guys have. We had a chance yesterday into the 4th quarter and that's more than most people gave us. I wouldn't mind seeing St Pierre again. He is #2 right now.

Yes... I'd say he had a good game for the most part, and has a bright future - BECAUSE HE'S A ROOKIE AND NOT A 30 YEAR OLD CAREER 3RD STRINGER JOURNEYMAN WHO WAS SITTING ON HIS COUCH UNEMPLOYED A WEEK AGO.

There's a huge difference. St. Pierre performed like he should have considering the circumstances - he shouldn't have been playing and there was really no logic behind it.

Additionally, I read somewhere that if you take away the 88-yard pass to Gettis, his yards per attempt was somewhere around 3.1. That is disgusting, and worse than Clausen. Now, it could have been because he had to checkdown due to not being familiar with the offense, but that's why he shouldn't have been in there.

I'm willing to bet Pike would've had a considerably higher, mid-high number on yards per attempt if he played.

St. Pierre played admirably, but the picks were bound to happen, and he shouldn't have been in there. Period.

But all good things always come to an end for us, its like they pull are qb's aside and have them throw the game, I always had those suspicions with Delhomme but this tops that easy. Pike didn't play as bad as Clausen but he just looks so damn un-mobile and drives me nuts watching a turtle in the pocket. So take your pick.... I say St.Pierre "gives us the best shot at winning", just don't bribe his ass

I disagree, and actually... Pike isn't your typical "lurch" big guy, one of his best attributes is his mobility, it was actually one of the biggest positives for him coming out. He also does well outside of the pocket.

Watching highlights of Colt McCoy, Vick, and even Eli Manning last night, I became that much more disgusted with Clausen. Again, I'm not pulling for or against any player outside of who gives us the best chance to win. But watching Clausen under pressure is like watching a lethal injection with no paralyzing agent... He can't move, which contributes to him just throwing it away at the first sign of pressure. He's unbelievably slow and unable to avoid pressure - he has NO elusiveness.

We have 2 QBs who have missed games due to concussions because our line cannot protect them.

Everything was off of 3 step drops to take away the pass rush. You can't throw down the field like that because receivers don't have time to get there. The Saint was chosen because his experience practicing in the league allowed him to get the ball out a half second faster and more decisively than anyone else we have.

The game plan was typical Fox trying to stay close with a chance to win at the end. It worked until we actually tried to win the game throwing down field at the end.

I get that, but like I said, Pike is mobile. Armanti is mobile. That helps negate crappy OL play. Additionally, Pike is 6'6" and has been in our system since training camp. So the yards per attempt weren't just by design and BSP shouldn't have been the starter.

If we ran a college spread Offense you would have a better point. Under center is a whole different ball game. It has to be taught in the NFL now because even High School teams run the spread. Play action and a decent running game gave us a small bit of balance on O yesterday against a very good D. I really doubt a running/mobile QB would have done better against Baltimore's speed.

I would actually like to see the Saint with a few more practices under his belt.

      Qbs aren't defined by physical abilities. Brady, Brees, Manning, Montana, Warner,.....doesn't seem to correlate.

      If we are going to spend the money anyway, maybe the signing is not as bad as it seems.  Mays outperformed Corbett (before his injury and if you go back to last year, Corbett has been below average) and then Christensen took the job and Mays quickly took it from him and never looked back.  He could use improvement reaching to the next level (LBs) but picking up stunts and blitzes---he was surprisingly good.  Run blocking needs some work, but he is 25.  Corbett, in my view, should be G/C depth and if Mays steps back, he is there.  Mays should start because this team is building for the future and 30 year old players are not building blocks.  We shall see.  That is how I think about it, but there are many factors we do not know. Having said that, I like what Zavala is doing, and I do not want to bring in someone who would take opportunities away from him.  Zavala was really good at RG down the stretch, and in limited duty, was awesome. In fact, we have a guard from the PS who played briefly and did well, but he only played a few plays.  He is 25 and I recall that fans of his former team were upset when we signed him.   Maybe as the backup center only (Corbett).  You need 2 centers to run practices efficiently.  I cannot say enough about the OL coaches on this staff.  What they have done is overshadowed by the Lewis / Hunt signing.  Mays, Ekwonu, Zavala--impressive growth.
