5 time champion

so you think he is a better driver than petty or earnhardt sr.? not even close

Believe me I am no Johnson fan but here are the facts.

- Earnhardt wrecked many people for his wins.

- Petty had superior equipment for his until NASCAR regulated equipment.

Jimmie Johnson has won 5-STRAIGHT championships where the limitations and rules are as strict as they have ever been. Not to mention he rarely has used his bumper to win races in the stretch. It is easy to win when your engine is 50 HP more than the closest competitor or you wreck your only competitor.

You mean to say Hendrick and Knaus don't have an advantage over the rest of the field? They know something that the rest of the teams don't know. That's an advantage.

I also don't see the problem with using your front bumper to win. More exciting racing. It's fair game IMHO, just expect payback if you do it to someone.

Even considering the facts you posted,it only shows that Jimmy Johnson winning equals boring racing.Just my opinion.

A tid-bit from an article off of espn.com

But what, you wonder, will keep Johnson from waiting 30 years or so to be held in the highest regard by the NASCAR masses?

I'm guessing an eight-peat. A seven-peat wouldn't quite do it, because the naysayers would point out that Johnson only tied ol' Dale and The King, and didn't do it fair and square, just by that gimmick called the Chase.

Eight in a row. Maybe that would get their attention.

So Jimmie Johnson and the 48 team still have work to do, to be roundly recognized for greatness.

The unjust part is, they're already great.

For someone to say Jimmie isn't one of the all-time greats, well, theyre either nuts, or jealous.

There's a LOT of jealousy going on it would seem.

It's gotten kind of childish, to be honest.

Im not jimmy fan but he is the best driver of the current era, he won in the old car, the cot with the spoiler and now without he's the man and in the mix for best driver ever....one more championship and he will become the best driver ever in nascar without a doubt.

However i think alot of the credit should go to kanus, without him as JJ' s crew cheif jimmy doesn't have 5 cups.

Jimmie is good, so is Knaus. They earned the championships. Most of us complain about it b/c it's boring, stale, and too clean. I miss the Earnhardt days when the phrase "rubbin' is racin'" was true. The boys are all too friendly nowadays and are too pussy to take someone out on purpose. If this were 1994 or before, Jimmie would have gotten clipped a lot more during this season.

You take Johnson away from Knaus and see how many championships he wins. All good things must come to an end so it's gonna happen very soon. Notice the crew chief changes Hendrick made, swapped all his other crew chiefs around on the other 3 cars but left Knaus with Johnson. I understand you don't wanna mess up success, but Hendrick knows as well as anyone Knaus is why they win. In today's Nascar these cars have to be dialed in to a t or else they don't win. Usually one team will figure out each track a dominate it...whereas late 80's-90's it was anybody's race. If you watch Jimmies driving he's not impressive at all,(need i bring up the 2 big wrecks at Talledaga 2 years ago, where there is real racing) he whines and pouts when somebody races him hard, or gets to close to him on the track. I guess he forgot the old cliche 'rubbin is racin'.

    • I think a lot of wrs are going to go in the second round before we pick.  There are a lot of wr needy teams.  I think there will be a big run on them in the late 30s and 40s.
    • Interesting that they met with Walker three times and Cam Jackson twice.
