#1 Overall pick, great gift for the New HC coming in.

There are people who do have access to Richardson, Hurney and others, and they write things the rest of us can read.

Those people say Cowher's not happening.

Those are just rumors and speculating. it's to early to just dismiss cowher.. if they keep saying that stuff when and if fox is fired then it may have some merit.. but until then it doesn't.

Even if it's speculation, it's informed speculation, and from people who have generally been right in the past.

I'll trust that over message board speculation ten times out of ten.

Just because they might be right here and there doesn't make them right about this.. There is a chance Cowher will come here regardless what anybody but JR and Cowher themselves say.

There's technically a chance the job could be offered to Don Shula.

(I wouldn't bet on it though)

Ok we get it you don't like or want cowher here.. don't be a broken record about it.

For the record, I could live with Cowher but I don't think he's the best man for the job. And I question whether he'd be able to succeed outside of the Steelers system.

Doesn't really matter what I want, though.

What does matter:

- The last time Richardson paid big money for a retread coach, it was a disaster.

- The two most successful coaches in Panthers history were guys that had never been head coaches before.

- Richardson has always held the philosophy that it's better to build your own star than acquire someone else's.

- Cowher wants a lot of control. Richardson prefers a split approach and is tied to Hurney having the final word on football matters.

With those things in mind, how likely do you think Cowher getting the job is going to be?

Slow down there Sparky, the Panthers have only had 3 Head Coaches in history. Not like their were other times JR paid big money for a "retread" HC.
