Jamarcus was very good @ LSU and had incredible upside coming out.

Yet no one would have figured him number one overall pick good. I think what sealed it for the Raiders that year was when Jamarcus threw the football 60-70 yards down the field on his knees during a workout, which proves how stupid teams can get when looking at workout sessions. Luck is certainly a great player, and is probably the best college QB, but I don't know if he has the presence to dominate and dictate what opposing defenses do on an NFL level. If we can get more draft picks for trading away the number one overall to a team that is salivating for Luck, we can bring in all the support to make Mallet a top tier qb in the NFL.

Umm yes he was, in that draft he was the #1 guy @ QB, mainly because of his physical attributes.

Just...like...mallet.

Mallet struggles in clutch situations, has poor technique and is generally not that great a leader.

Yet there were other guys who were more deserving of the first overall pick. There were alot of people who were surprised Oakland took him. If Mallet decided to stay another year at Arkansas, it would be justified to say he would be the number one overall pick in next year's draft. It would be the same with Luck of course, and Luck would get the nod if both stayed in college. Both are capable, yet I think Mallet projects better in the NFL. My theory would be if we draft Luck, he will have a lesser draft class to work with. If we trade down and get more picks (mainly if we can get two first rounders, one for this year and one for next, saving a spot for Alshon Jeffrey if we can't get a decent receiver to help out Steve Smith), Mallet would come in with a better class around him.

I feel we can't lose with either prospects, and possibly much more to gain with Mallet.

It's not gonna be Cowher. Not Gruden either.

Harbaugh, Grimm, Zimmer, maybe Frazier or McDermott. Perry Fewell could elevate his name if the Giants look good tonight.

Sadly every HC hire JR has ever made says he won't select Jim Harbaugh.

Grimm, Zimmer you can have. Frazier will probably be the HC in Minny.

Harbaugh / Luck is by far the best scenario.

Too bad Richardson is once again going to go defense in a league where you need offense to survive.

We're never going to have a great QB/offense under his watch.

Since when did Richardson start drafting the players?

And if I missed this breaking news, then how the h^ll does Don Gregory and Marty Hurney have a Job, if Richardson is the one making the personel decisions?

You have to remember that the coach has to want to be here, too. Harbaugh may very well prefer to stay in CA and take the 49ers or Chargers in the NFL. Maybe he'll stay at Stanford or take a higher profile NCAA job. I hope he comes here, but given how high his stock is he can pick the job he wants. Hopefully he'll find this one attractive.

Pretty funny some of you keep insisting that cowher will not come here.. do you have access to richardson or cowher to know what they are thinking? no? then stfu please.

There are people who do have access to Richardson, Hurney and others, and they write things the rest of us can read.

Those people say Cowher's not happening.
