Ryan Mallet is a negative.

He isn't that good in college.

This season Luck has been a man among children, and showed such ability as early as last year.

Hell I would take Cam Newton before Mallet.

i agree about newton over mallet. actually i have thought of mewton as being a much more mobile big ben.

You know I want to backtrack a little. I watched the Bill Parcells feature on NFLN Friday and something was said that I think really applies to the Panthers. 'We don't need a NAME coach...we need the RIGHT coach'.

I guess I get caught up as well in 'Names' but we all (including me) need to sit back and realize all the greats at one time were 'Nobodies' that hadn't accomplished anything. Hell the best current coach in the game was ran out on a rail from Cleveland.

So who is the right coach? I say one that is not a players coach, but not as much of an ass as a parcells was because neither works. They have to be able to balance treating them like men while demanding discipline. I think we need another defensive minded coach that will dump the Tampon 2 as they know it doesn't work any longer. One that can hire the right OC to develop a top QB talent and mix up the run and pass correctly. We need the next 'innovater' for the pro game.

Who is it? I have no clue at this point. But I think Harbaugh could do well and if we take Luck it would be a damn good move to get both. As for as Luck staying in school? Not if he wants to get paid. One way or the other starting in 2012 the rookie salaries will be greatly less. So if he wants the big money, he better come out in this draft.

Of course, we all know that if either one of these QBs have an outstanding combine and pro day, what they did on the college field becomes less important. I don't know, I just have that gut feeling Mallet can become a very dominant player.
