craziest offseason in memory

Ah, Adam Schefter, how far have you fallen?

Schefter was reporting just a short time ago that there was no way the Chiefs would hire Shanahan. Now Chris Mortensen is saying a deal is close.

Schefter has been swinging and missing repeatedly this offseason. From here on out I think I'll be taking everything he reports with a grain of salt.

to quote you one more time on this, Schefter has struck back at Mortensen, saying that unless friends of his are lying to him then KC next head coach will not be Shanahan. and reiterating the point that KC has not spoken to Shanahan.

Ah, but wait...

Now PFT is reporting that Mortensen overstated his case. They say Shanahan is a candidate, but a deal is not "in the works".

Still contradicts Schefter's assertion that there was no way he could get the job, but Mortensen overreached a bit too.

I was watching espn last night and they had Mortensen on there retracting his statement. Which I thought for some reason was funny. Though its no known that it's only on the chiefs side and it's not going to happen.

Can't see the Panthers doing it...no matter how much Gruden begged for the job. I'll say this, though...Gruden is a great X's and O's passing game guy. Smitty could get 1500 yards under him.

He just got 1400~ yards this past season under Davidson.. With Gruden here, there would be no more Davidson. Gruden calls his own plays, remember? Hell Smitty got 1500 yards under DAN HENNING. And when is the last time one of Gruden's WRs did anything to make a splash?

Antonio Bryant this year. He never had one of Smitty's caliber in Tampa. But he built a pretty good offense in Oakland before he left.

Glazer>Schefter>Anyone @ ESPN.

I tend never to believe Mort anyway he's been off far more than Schefter et al. Just this morning I heard him saying Davidson is a Parcells guy. Um...que???? He was hired to the Pats by Pete Carroll in 1997, then he was on Belichick's staff. He has never had anything to do with Parcells other than working for a team whose director of player personnel is related to Parcells by marriage.

I tend to believe Mortensen most of the time, but when he screws up he goes all out

Glazer is the one national guy whose word I take as gospel.

You misunderstood. Davidson has a screen saver of a naked Bill Parcells. His license plate is TUNALVR.
