Thats a cowardice move. Coming from doing bad at 2 HC positions, he wants a job nobody pays attention to cause he cant take the pressure of being a DC, who everybody would blame when the defense isn't doing well

There's a load of pressure on NFL head coaches. Add in that Herm's taken a beating in the media. You could understand his being a little burnt out.

Why not return to something where you have a comfort level?

Disagree if McGinnis or someone like him is in the DC slot. The DC would set the scheme and the position coaches would have to fall in line.

In such a scenario, Herm would only be responsible for coaching players on technique, and I'm comfortable with that.

I agree, i'd much rather Herm be DB coach than DC now. Technique seems to be more of his strenth rather than scheming. He doesn't need to call plays.

Godfrey has tons of natural talent and Herm would just pollish him and Godfrey could become great. Harris is already great in my mind. Maybe not that great in coverage but his presence on the field is scary.

i hope not.

i do see the sense in him going back to DB coach or chilling for a year, though.

going back to being a position coach would be good for him. things kind of went off track a bit when he went form Db coach to HC. He may see that as a way to get things back on track and go slowly like he probably should have.

kind of a retracing his steps and re-walking the path making better choices the 2nd time around.
